Cub Cadet LGTX 1054 Reviews & Ratings
Good Tractor
By Jeff C.

Review Posted 12/02/2017
I bought this in 2013 to replace my old Cub 2000 Series. I do miss the shaft drive, but I can't complain about the 1054's reliability. I mow about 2 acres every week. Over 1300 hrs on the machine. Change oil/filter/air cleaner once a year. Always fires up, and aside from a deck belt from time to time, no other issues. If I had any complaints, the deck could use some improvements. Plugs up with even rain in the forecast and the hose tap for cleaning just turns the deck clippings to mush. Doesn't work.

Cub Cadet doesn't get another change after this

The Cub Cadet GT1054 was a rotten purchase. First they advertised no tools to change the deck. That is an outright lie since the belt keeper on the engine pulley has to be removed to get the belt off. I have had nuts fall off on many bolts since Cub was too cheap to put on nylocks. Of course, when this happens and you're rolling around, something else gets broken. The nut fell off the parking brake and I had to pull the gas tank to get in and fix it.
Battery that came with it was too small to crank the engine in slightly cold weather, so I had to get one with much higher CCA. Decals fell off dashboard in year two. Belt falls off deck continually. Drive belt falls off pulley under the seat constantly. Deck springs at the back are a real pain to pull most of the time. Cheap tires had to be replaced because of going flat when riding over some thorny brush. Guys at the tire store said they were as cheap as you could possibly make them. Bottom line... this product is a terd and I will never buy anything from Cub again.

Don't Understand the Negative Reviews

Second cub cadet in 10 yrs. Had LT 1050 prior to this LGTX 1054. Upgraded to this model. Absolutely love it. Didn't think I needed power steering, but wow it's amazing. Same cub quality I have come to expect.
Loads of power cuts like a dream. tires are non issue traction is great and ride is fine considering the yard I have. Very pleased with this machine.

Nonsense
By Wally

Review Posted 04/13/2015
Other reviews are nonsense. The mower is powerful, turns on a dime, rugged, no problems. I mow 3 acres on our farm every week and use it for other chores as well. I see it's been superseded by another model which seems very similar.
Some people are just helpless when it comes to using and taking care of machinery. And other folks just like to whine about how their 1964 Craftsman was the best mower ever.

Poor Quality

I purchased a 2005 Cub Cadet 54" cut and have had it for nine years and was very happy with it. I decided to update to the newer model listed here. I was and still am very disappointed with the quality of this mower. I love the power steering but the rest of the machine is crap. Smaller tires means choppy ride. More plastic parts abound. Thinner metal everywhere. It is painfully obvious that Cub Cadet was trying to save money when they built this. It is no wonder that they discontinued this model. I cannot get my money back because I put gas in the thing to unload it. You would think that when you pay 3100.00 big ones for a mower that the quality would be there. I am stuck with it. Never again will I buy CUB CADET !

Very Dissatisfied
By Tim P.

If you have a small yard, or a golf course like flat yard, with not much to mow around, then this mower is for you. Of course, any mower would last with that criteria, right ? I bought this brand new, and have 175 hours on it in 2 seasons. I mow A LOT. I have already stuck $500.00 into it, and just last night the sway bar rod broke, and the flimsy, light seat bracket snapped ! Am I upset. But, historically Cub was a good buy in the past, due to price. They just are not made heavy enough for country mowing. I am upgrading to a ZTR, and will try that. Oh, and the ZTR tractor feature was a great idea, but now I have deep, dirt rings around EVERYTHING in my yard, because the rear wheels literally PUSH the front tires sideways, scraping the yard as you turn. Plus, my tires are bald already. Very disappointed, and may upgrade to a real ZTR. Going to check reviews right now.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

PURCHASED THIS MOWER FROM HOME DEPOT. Salesmen said zero turn rating, blah, blah. The steering is hard, mower belts wear out fast, come off easy during mowing. Expensive parts you can only get parts from Cub Cadet service rep in your area. Be prepared to spend some money. I had an old Craftsman riding mower second hand that cut better. Lasted longer with minimal maintenance than the Cub Cadet. Don't believe the hype, worst purchase ever.
