Highly Disappointing Mower
By Adam F.
Michigan
Purchased 06/12/2023 |
Review Posted 08/21/2023
It's been a few months now, but this is the conclusion I have come to... I don't have many regrets in life, but this mower is one of the few.
We went from a ZTR rider to this mower when we bought a new house with a slightly smaller yard thinking a wider self-propelled mower would work well for us. Little did I know this monstrosity of a mower would turn out to be such a bad decision. It weighs A LOT. Like it's extremely taxing to pull backward when mowing just a few times. It's self-propelled function is not well designed, constantly jerking and pulling on the user. The max speed is also slower than you want it to be mowing shorter grass (meaning you want to speed up your job, but not so fast, it limits how fast it goes).
The side discharge might be the single worst, cheapest design I have ever seen on any mower. It slides over into position, but then anytime you barely bump into something with it, it comes loose again and you have to stop mowing to fix it. The other day I grazed a branch on a bush and I had to pause mowing because that's all it took. Quite possibly the single most infuriating feature or design failure I have ever experienced with a tool this size.
One of the front wheels doesn't turn freely so moving it around while not using it is difficult.
Just supremely disappointed with Cub Cadet and their design team on this one. Will not make the mistake of ordering a mower online without getting a feel for it first. This is a costly mistake that we have to deal with, I recommend against buying this mower.

Big Boy Mower
By Youngster

Purchased 06/11/2023 |
Review Posted 08/09/2023
You wouldn’t look at a mower like this if you weren’t after a big mower, and this one doesn’t disappoint. It’s a strong mower with plenty of power for my needs (larger lot, fescue grass, hills - no problem with any of these.) So much power, in fact, that I have to make an effort to make sure the front tires stay on the ground each time I turn. The swivel tires up front help with handling. The self-pacing handle is a little overly sensitive, but it does a generally good job keeping pace. It handles about as well as a mower of this size can, which is quite good overall, but you still know you’re mowing with a big machine.
If I had it to do over again, I’d prefer a smaller riding mower, but I wasn’t confident it would have the power I’d need for the hills…and this one has no trouble at all in that department.

Shipping took longer than anticipated. Couple scratch’s noticed upon unboxing. Battery cover is nowhere to be found. Decking or something is not level. All wheels adjusted to the same height on a level surface, however the front left wheel fails to make contact with the ground. In order for the front wheels to make even contact with the ground, one front wheel must be lowered one setting lower than the rest. The swivels wheel don’t work well, and the left front wheel frequently gets caught up on the decking. Super annoying and frustrating. The easy start was not easy at all when first starting. Took over 30 minutes, and a removal of the spark plug. I’m assuming the gap was too large. It seems to leave a small, noticeable line between the two blades too. If shipping wasn’t involved, I would have returned after the first use. I’ve previously had a John Deere mower with swivel wheels, and it was far superior! For the cost I had much higher expectations and wouldn’t ever buy another or recommend this mower.

I just used the machine. This is way better then the Troy Built I purchased a few years ago. That was a piece of crap and would cut the grass on an angle.

I am not a lawn nut, and I had been using a 21” toro self propelled for years on the 1/2 acre. This was a game changer. I’ve had to adjust a little due to its size but it takes me half the time. Seriously half. Pricey but I would say worth it. Only reason I say pricey is because i saw it go up in price by a few hundred dollars with inflation. Not mad at it though. Worth the price and built like a tank. Stores easy and actually takes up less space than my 21” because of the handle stow away option.

Machine came with no start button and had to order and pay for one with shipping. Other than that it's a beast. The handle is uncomfortable and should be bigger and with rubber padding so far I like it a lot.
