Brand New Mower

I bought this mower brand new, took it out of the box, added oil & gas & the rear self propelled wheel was stuck & would not turn. After checking several things that were all working, I took off the left rear wheel & determined it had the wrong gear, it had nine teeth & it should be ten teeth & it came from the manufacturer brand new like this. I would expect something brand new to have the correct gear.

Having to get use to a rear wheel drive but getting there with this mower. Really like the fact it’s 23”, gets the job done quicker. Also it’s light weight makes handling easy. So far so good.

Good Running Mower
By Bradley H.
Tennessee
Review Posted 06/29/2022
This mower runs good until you are going up an incline or hill, and it sputters like it isn't getting gas. Also, the big bag is useless, as you can only fill it halfway before it weighs down the backend and can cause it to want to collapse backwards.

Great Mower!
By Steve M.

Review Posted 05/25/2022
This mower is a workhorse! It mows tall grass with ease and I have been surprised at how well it mulches. The only negative I have experienced is the yellow Cub Cadet plastic piece that fits over the engine will not stay on. Engine vibrates a little and it falls off. I would recommend this mower based on its performance.

Poor Ergonomics

Mower cuts well, but self pace handle is badly designed. Not enough stability when doing lots of back and forth rows or turns. I ended up with two blisters on my thumbs after first mowing. Classic raking the yard blisters.

Few New Mowers Handle Slopes And Uneven Ground
By James A
Georgia
Review Posted 05/17/2022
Well-built sturdy mower with rear-wheel drive that can climb most slopes. Transmission needs a forward push to engage.the drive. But to have the mower pull you up a slope only works on small slopes. This is a case where a all wheel positive transmission would be better. The bagger works well but requires emptying to prevent the stuffed grass from stopping the blade. Unfortunately my slopes are uneven and sometimes over 20 degrees. The greater slopes will put strain on the back to keep the mower working to push up the slope. The mower engine and construction work well, and though my grasses were higher than recommended - was able to cut through nearly an acre of grass.

My slopes are more than most mowers can handle, and are very risky for riding mowers or lawn tractors. This walk-behind was the only gasoline-powered mower available and only found at Mowers Direct with some waiting time before it arrived. The engine is quick to start, and except for high grass clogging does the job very well. Its weight makes it stable, though on down-slopes it wants to go a lot faster.

Now that the spring grasses have been cut to a shorter length, future mowing this year should be an easier task. I have had to put other mowers into shops for warranty work, or retirement due to the slopes and uneven ground of my property causing those mowers to fall apart or fail. The Cub- Cadet SC900 has done well and I anticipate great performance for years.
