DO NOT BUY THIS - SEARS DOES NOT REASONABLY STAND BEHIND IT
By Richard D.

Review Posted 12/22/2017
I purchased this product last winter, and paid an additional $200 for a 3-year service contract. The snowblower would not start the first time it snowed this winter, in November. I had to wait almost a month for a service person to look at it (I was told Sears only has one service person to service the entire state of Utah). He was unable to fix it, and said the next available date to try again was almost another month away. The snowblower is useless, and it is borderline fraudulent for Sears to sell service contracts that are pretty much useless.

Better Than Expected

I have used mine now for several years in Anchorage, AK and not only do I do my own driveway/walks but also three of my neighbors and our church walks. I am very happy with it's performance, the EZ Steer feature and directional snow chute controls. My only complaint is that the local Sears does not carry replacement scraper bars (pick up blade) that do wear out and I'm currently in the hunt.

Mistake To Purchase This Model

First, a disclaimer I am an ardent Craftsman and Kenmore purchaser. I have many Craftsman products.

Because of the above I chose this model of snowblower. We have a large driveway and thought this model would be good. Our past snowblower was a 28" MTD that did a great job, I sold it when I bought a tractor with a blower. Since then I quit using the tractor blower and decided to buy this one.

I have had only about 6-8 times to use it, the only time it does a reasonable job is with maybe 4" of snow where I can move in position 2 forward. Any gear faster the snowblower can't keep up. It is advertised for use in all kinds of snow but that is not true. Today I used it with a wet snow up to 10" and it could not handle it at any speed.

The auger completely packed with snow between the blades and could not keep up with the slowest speed. It's throwing distance is barely 10' when under a load. The drift cutters are useless, it could not handle snow of the depth enough to have to use the cutters. The electric chute control is very twitchy and not smooth at all. I am very disappointed with this machine and will replace it.

Very powerful

We just had a 14" snowstorm here in CT. I have a 450' road millings driveway at a 14% grade. The snow blower did a great job. A couple of things not too happy with is the chute gets in the way of the light. And going up a 14% grade, it wants to lean backwards.

Guess I'll be ordering the front-end weight for it. Also, I have one of those cabs for it, but one of the bars are right in the way of the light .So not going to use cab too much.

First gear is real slow, not bad for moving a lot of snow. Second gear a little too fast for moving snow. All the other gears seem the same to me.Not sure if you need 6 gears. Otherwise, it's a good machine so far.
