Craftsman 88395 Reviews & Ratings
Excellent Function & Performance

Always starts first pull so I quit using the electric start. I've never had any issues with the drive train or blower mechanism. I love the 2 reverse and 6 forward speeds that I can change on the fly.

Not Enough Power Is A Disappointment

This machine (277cc) doesn' t have the power to throw the snow far enough for my needs. The throttle is regulated such that when operating full throttle, it sounds and feels like it is too restricted. The throttle does not allow you to get high enough RPM's to throw the snow farther. My last Craftsman of this size, had higher RPM's and more power. At highest setting, engine is not much above a strong idle. Wet snow frequently clogs the chute. Operates well with fine powder snow. But average NJ snow (wet) it struggles. Bought in Sept.2014.

Controls Freezes up after use

I have a six year old one very similar only with Tecumseh engine. It starts and always works well. Just before shutdown I run it to empty auger etc of snow, and then whisk broom most of the snow out of it. BUT after use, gear shifter and auger control freeze, necessitating either pulling it into my house or putting a portable heater on it for at least an hour!!!!!
If not for the freeze up problem I would give it a 4, but it is at least an hour of thawing to get it to operate before each use, therefore I give it a one star rating.

Snow gets into drive assembly

Review Posted 01/09/2014
First time I used the blower, it was great. Each time after, the drive system would seem to quit. Blower would not move forward or backwards. If you lifted the drive wheels off the ground, they would spin. But put it back down, and the blower would not drive forward.
After 4 uses like this, phoned to complain. They arrived, left me without a blower for 9 days, and returned it with a new belt cover recommended by the manufacturer. Worked great the first time again... when it was dry. Next time, same problem as before. Complained again, and their solution was to have the tech try and fabricate some kind of gasket to prevent snow from entering... I returned the blower!
