7th Season & Going Strong
By Michael B.

Bought my LT2000 from my local Sears in NJ, in June 2013. Delivered and set up as promised. I have cut my corner lot (almost 1 acre) an average 3 times a month for 6 seasons (April-November), and now into the 7th season, with no issues. Knock on wood. I have changed the oil and filter once (2016?), sharpened the blades once, and just replaced the battery all myself. Both headlight bulbs still shine (yes, sometimes I don’t stop at dusk), and the tires look great. No problems with the deck, pulleys, belts, etc. Nothing wrong with the engine (no smoking, leaking, knocking). It is garage kept, so nothing looks rusted or worn. One or two labels peeled off, but who cares. I would prefer a more comfortable ride (seat, suspension) and easier turning, and smaller turning radius, but those are minor things. I don’t think it goes slowly, like in other reviews, and I get better mulching if I keep my speed down anyway. I don’t ride it like an ATV, but I don’t baby it either. Overall, I rate it close to 5 stars, because I have pulled MINIMAL maintenance, yet had practically no performance issues. In addition, my cost per cut is about $10 ($1,500/150), and diminishing. Did I get lucky? I have no idea. But I would definitely recommend this tractor.

Bought this for my wife. She couldn't push the pedal all the way down even with the seat all the way forward, had to make some wooden blocks on the pedal. Good thing I bought the extended warranty. Had to have it repaired 4 times, last time they replaced the engine because it was blowing smoke. This POS goes VERY SLOW in forward mode (goes faster in reverse than in forward). ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS POS!

DO NOT BUY. I have had difficulty with this mower from the first day I bought it. took 3 months for sears to honor and fix with my extended maintenance agreement. now I need a solenoid switch, I have had this mower for less than 3 years and have had constant problems. Goes SLOW.

Started having issues after issues. The last one was the valve sit. It is steel pressed into aluminum. So when the motor warms up, the meddles expand to different sizes. And eventually it fails. A new head and cost to do the replacement is $362

DON'T DO IT!!!!

Bought my mower on Aug. 16th and had it delivered to my home on the following Monday. Salesmen was fine. Used it twice in 2 wks and the third time it wouldn't start. Called the Monroe, NC store and was first asked if I bought the Maintenance Agreement. I did not as I think problems arise after (or may) 4 yrs for something new. I also told him that had nothing to do with anything since I just received it. I had issues with Home Depot when I did purchase a agreement. They did not stand by their product and the M.A. service place had gone out of business less than one year after my purchase! Craftsman has a (I thought) good name as well as Sears. I still have a 1985 tv that never gave me trouble and still use. Anyway, the 3rd time I went to use the mower it wouldn't start. It would keep trying to engage but even with the trouble shooting it wouldn't move. I told the person all this and that I wanted a new machine or someone to come to see it as I live 4.0 miles from store. I had to wait until the following Monday to exchange it and did not get a call the night before, I called the store home delivery Monday morning the woman told me there was mention on the computer but the guy dropped the ball and made no appointment to come on Monday. Good thing I trust no one!!! The next date for delivery was 9/11. At which time, again, we exchanged machines. The man checked the new one out, I drove it around to park it in the back. 2-1/2 hrs later it happened again!!! No engagement! I called and requested someone to come to the house to take it away. I have a 1p-5p window to stay at home and wait. Oh yes, my credit card has already been charged. This was at noon when the grass was fully dry when I wanted to cut. From 12:30p until now 2:45 I'm still waiting for a phone call. Granted it is still early. I went out at 1Pm and it still wouldn't turn over. I did the trouble shooting from the book again (it didn't work last time) on gas flooding and it started after the second try. I cut my grass and parked it. I still am waiting for the guy to come and tell him all this and that I no longer have faith in the product. If no one is here by 5pm. I'm leaving the house to drive 4.0 miles to the Sears store and get credited. Remember, they already have my money! I still do not want the machine and want to get rid of it now rather than wait another week and find it not working. Or worse next season, when it wouldn't start at all! I'm VERY disappointed and have had enough. I will never enter a Sears store again or think that they sell good products.

Got mine and for awhile it worked fine, cut good, started easy, seemed like a decent tractor. I have 1.5 acres. Today I was cutting the yard ... black smoke started coming from the engine, chugging, spitting, tried keeping it running, clanking, had to shut it down sounded like it was falling apart. Won't start at all now. Believe its the cam shaft or a broken push rod and no I did maintenance on it regularly, oil change etc. I'm a retired mechanic. Shocked that a Briggs engine would fail like that? This tractor is 2 years old. Warranty is for 2 years... They called that right....
