Design Flaw

Craftsman/Husqvarna needs to do a recall on this mower. The ATTACHMENT CLUTCH LEVER that allows you to engage/disengage the mower blades is located just behind the steering wheel.
Well, when you DISengage the mower blades, this you release the lever from 12 o'clock and it snaps down to 4 o'clock. The problem with this is that 4 o'clock is smack dab on your right kneecap. THIS HURTS!!! I had to stop mowing and walk it off twice!
There is a simple fix. Make the Attachment Clutch Lever about 2-3 inches SHORTER. If they can fix this design flaw, I wouldn't have any problem with this mower.

Not worth buying at any price

I bought this lawn tractor from the local Sears store earlier this summer. The third time I mowed my lawn mower with it, it cut the mowing deck belt in two. It turns out both belt guards were bent, although there was not a mark on either one of them. My guess is that the deck was damaged in shipping and not noticed at the dealer. I went to Sears and bought new belt, and removed guards and bent them back into proper shape.
The reverse mowing feature is a total pain. Yes, you can mow in reverse, but to do so, you have to turn the ignition key to the left, push a button and put the mower in reverse. It is easier to just disengage the blade, back up to where you want to mow, put the mower back in forward, and reengage blade. Had I known how convoluted the procedure was to mow in reverse, I would have not bought the tractor.
Yesterday I was mowing, stopped to reverse, disengaged blade, heard a noise like a spring letting go, and the engine shut off. It will not restart. Now, I have to return it to Sears, loading it up in my truck by pushing it up ramps, to take it in and find out what happened.
To say that I am totally dissatisfied with this mower is an understatement. I bought it to replace a well-worn, ten-year-old Murray which I still have and which I will use to finish mowing my lawn tomorrow.

You need to have a leg like an elephant to depress this pedal for an hour. The person that designed this has never cut grass. This engineer would be better at designing weight machines for a gym.
