Great Generator - Instruction Manual Needs Work
By Nate A.

Review Posted 06/26/2020
I really like this generator and found that the included "Quick Set-Up" Manual that came with it was very helpful. The problem that I ran into was the included owners manual is really worthless. Unless you have a lot of experience with small engine maintenance the owners manual instructions for maintenance and storage is a little too advanced for most casual users. The info for draining the oil is included but I wish there was more info and pictures for maintenance and storage.
I was able to find a video online that was very helpful and walks you through all steps for proper storage. Draining the carb was easy with the included hose. The spark plug connection was a little unique ( I was expecting a fully rubber connection like on a dirt bike or jet ski) but once you remove the metal housing for the spark plug it's not too hard to get the plug off with the included tool.
The generator works great and is a little quieter than a non inverter. I find it starts up with 1 pull every time and I am really impressed with the quality of the components. Would buy again!

I use this as an RV generator. I secure it in the back of my PU truck when I tow our 20 ft trailer. It runs our 13500 btu ac like a champ. It will start the ac in eco mode with no problem. I have run the generator for 6.5 hours on a single tank of gas, with the ac set at 75 and the outside temp of 102. I have run it overnight in rest areas and Walmart parking lots to operate the ac and cpap machine with enough gas left over to make coffee and run the microwave for breakfast the next morning. We cannot hear it running when we are in the trailer and it is in the back of the truck. I also own a Champion open frame inverter/generator and I bought them both from Generators Direct. The service was excellent on both generators.

First Generator - Ready For The Florida Storm Season

Delivered in damaged box by a rude FedEx driver who dropped it and ran. However, the excellent styrofoam packing saved the generator from damage. Inspected unit, and found air cleaner cover was unclipped. Secured clip. Surprised to see "2 year warranty" on box, so called Champion. Customer Support assured me that warranty is 3 years, as noted on manual included in box. Unit was manufactured in March 2017, 14 months before delivery! Added oil and gasoline, and generator started on first pull. Ran for an hour, then added progressive electrical loads, and all was well. A very nice unit and it should keep our essential appliances operating in the event of more hurricanes this year.

The main plug doesn’t seem to be working. The 110 small plugs are. I put on a hour meter, and will continue to try to figure out why my 23ft Airstream won’t power up off the generator. I want it to work...

What a GREAT Value

Purchased this Unit two years ago before leaving on a trip to visit most of our National Parks. Just wanted for use if we were boon docking. Arrived in Odessa Texas for a reunion then headed north, the average temperature was 99 to 102 degrees. Our first stop was a road side rest area for lunch. The inside of our 5th wheel was like an oven so I started the Champion first pull ran the air while we ate at the picnic table in the shade. 5th wheel had cooled down and I decided to leave the Champion running the rest of the day. Pulled into RV park in Amarillo Texas 5th wheel was nice and cool inside. For the next 7000 mile plus the Champion ran all day so we did not have to enter a hot 5th wheel. Every RV park we stayed at someone would ask about the little yellow generator and I would tell them how I was using it and they all said I am getting one.
Our trip covered over 8000 plus miles last summer, used it the same way and boon docked several times for over 3 days in 90 plus days. Our 5th wheel is 35' with three slide, ran the 13500 BTU air unit, TV and two computers most of the time. Would turn off the air if we used the microwave to heat a cup of coffee as with both on it would go to over load and kick the breaker on the unit. The 3400 came out 6 months later or I would have bought it, but have no regrets, for the price you can not beat this unit.
OH! the starter rope broke on our was home in November 2016, I called Champion and a complete new assembly was shipped to my house. Great customer service, I spoke to a gentleman who never questioned me, I explained what happened and he ask for my address and said he would ship it the next day.
Had not started my generator since I returned last November, May 12th I started getting ready for our trip this summer to Washington state, I rolled the Champion out of my store room took the cover off added gas and it started on the third pull, let it run for about an hour on ecno mode with no load just to make sure everything was good then plugged in Wife's hair dryer on high heat for a few minutes. Great little unit and is very quite.

Bought a Second One!
By Danny B.

Review Posted 04/27/2017
I purchased a Champion 2800 inverter less than one month ago. So impressed I just bought a second unit and ordered the parallel kit. Our rv has two air conditioners and with two this will run both! 5600 watts will be plenty.. The Champion has wheels and a battery charging cord, Honda charges extra!. CHAMPION has a real Rv 30 amp plug, no need to buy an adapter. A fuel shutoff, steel, not plastic choke pull. . A funnel, plug wrench, built in handle... this is a great generator!
