Product QuestionsAnswered by Jim, the Sump Pump Expert
I've had this unit for about a year with great success. In the past month or so once the pump turns on while in the shower or flushing the toilet and it begins to pump the water out to the septic tank. It won't turn off unless I hit the pipe attached to the pump. Any ideas to prevent this from happening. I ran the shower for an hour a few times thinking maybe some waste is keeping the float from falling back down. Not sure what to do next.
Thanks,
Jeff

I have one of these Bur-Cam systems in my basement but the tank has cracked and is leaking. I would like to replace it but the unit shown in this picture shows the sink/shower inlet on the right and mine is on the left. Is that a different model #? If so do you know what it is and do you sell it?

Answer
Thank you for your interest in Sump Pumps Direct.
Per Bur-Cam:
The inlet holes on the tank are not pre-drilled, they are made by the customer as per the location of their fixtures. Our image just shows them on one side as an example. Depending on the size, location, and severity of the crack, it is sometimes possible to cut a small piece from the edge of the lid and melt it, letting it drop on to the crack to fix it (for small cracks only).
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Just curious on the reliability of this unit, i have seen some not to favorable reviews on other web-sites regarding this particular model especially the pump motor. What is your professional opinon ? I plan on using it in my basement (man cave) but do not want it smelling like a cave, if you know what I mean. Thanks for your insight.

Answer
Thank you for visiting Sump Pumps Direct. Systems based on this design have been around for quite some time from various manufacturers and do perform well. The thing that you need to consider is that all manufacturers do recommend that their systems be inspected every 4-6 months to insure that they are operating correctly and when you do need a replacement pump, you are generally bound to the same pump as the original or an updated model that is designed specifically for that system. These pumps are usually available, though it may need a little investigating to locate them. Hope this helps you and may your man cave continue to provide you with many years of enjoyment and pleasant smells! If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Answer
This great system from Bur-Cam actually fits just beneath the floor and the toilet and the tank where the pump is located would be just behind the wall. Discharge could be direct to your sewer line if allowed by your local codes. Please feel free to go directly to the PRODUCT PAGE for this pump and click on the "Specs" tab. Once there, you can click on the pdf link on the right side of the page for the owners manual to get step-by-step installation instructions.
