Q: I have approximately 10 acres to mow, is there the possibility of a grass catcher or grass catching bag?
by Andrew from New York on March 18, 2016

A: Andrew - the Ariens MaxZoom 60 mower would use the Ariens 891003 bagger. You would also need the Ariens 791049 bagger mounting kit: 891003 bagger
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Todd, if i buy this mower and something goes wrong within the 3 year warranty, how would i get it fixed?
by Joe from Connecticut on June 26, 2011

A: Joe - any needed warranty service would be provided by your local Ariens dealer. We have a link on our web site under customer service that would allow you to look up the closest Ariens service centers using your zip code.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: the ariens zero turn mowers, do they have snow blowers available? and if so are they easy to mount? just trying to cut back on the number of gas engines to maintain. thanks Troy
by Troy Donth from Minnesota on June 11, 2011

A: Troy - Ariens does make a snow blower attachment that mounts to the front of their zero turn mowers. I would say the installation is moderate in terms of ease. We don't stock the snow blower attachment, but we would be able to special order it for you if you decide you want one. To be honest, the snow blower attachment is not a big seller, mostly because of the handling and traction of a zero turn mower on snow and ice. Give us a call if you want to find out more about the Ariens snow blower attachment for their zero turn mowers.

Q: Todd,

Thinking about buying one of these, just wondering who services them in central Ohio and what kind of warranty comes with it?

by Fred Millington from Ohio on May 11, 2011

A: This unit is going to come with a 3 year warranty, 1 year commercial. The deck will have a 5 year warranty.

In terms of service, any local Ariens service center can do service on this unit.
If you can email us a zip code, we can do a search and find out what servicing dealers would be in your area.

Q: I purchased this mower last fall. What type of engine oil is required. Cannot find the info in any of the manuals.

Love the mower.

by James Perkins from Nebraska on May 08, 2011

A: Just use a 10 W 30 on this and you will be fine.

Q: Hi Todd, what kind of hydraulic fluid does the Ariens 60inch cut zero turn mower use and where can I get it?
by Missy Hayes from North Carolina on May 07, 2011

A: Missy - The hydraulic fluid used in the Ariens MaxZoom 60-inch zero turn mower is a 20W-50 engine oil with an SL-API classification. You should be able to find this at any auto parts store. Ariens recommends changing the hydraulic fluid after the first 75 hours of mower use, and then about every 400 hours after that.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: If I purchase the Ariens MaxZoom60, is it delivered ready to go or is there assembly etc that needs to be done?
by Jeff from Iowa on April 26, 2011

A: This model is going to be pretty much ready to go. The seat will need to be attached along with battery cables and the steering levers will be folded down, but this is all simple and would not take long and is for shipping reasons.

by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Do any of the nicer semi-pro or mid-grade zero turn mowers allow their mower decks to be removed in order to service the blades? If not, what is the best method to get to the blades so they can be removed and the underdecking can be cleaned?

Also, I have a somewhat hilly area to mow. Can most of the larger zero turn mowers handle hillier terrain without risking flipping over?

by Dave from Maryland on March 19, 2011

A: Thanks for your inquiry. The mower decks are removable. You should consult your owner's manual or the manufacturer directly before doing so. Another method would be to jack the mower up far enough to remove the blades. Most larger zero turns will handle hills no problem.

At 250 Hours, I Couldn't Be Happier!
After I wore out my 1991 Grasshopper a few years ago, I bought this machine. I bought it at Home Depot, and I chose it because the price was good, and it had a Kawasaki engine. At first, I was a little dubious about the quality. If I ran over a stick, I heard "clang" instead of "thunk", so I thought the deck might be a little lighter. Servicing the deck is a fairly major feat, and I have avoided it. But I can now say, after 250 hours, this mower has been an astoundingly... more
Pros: High Quality, Exceeded Expectations, I'd Buy It Again, Reliable
Cons: Not good on slopes.

Time In The Saddle
I cut about 4-6 of 18 acres regularly. I choose the 60" wide deck knowing that some features in my yard would be tough to cut with a deck this wide, but that the wide open stuff would go more quickly. Up to this point I have used a garden tractor with a 46" deck and had no experience driving a zero turn mower.

The Ariens is surprisingly nimble for an 800 lb plus machine with a 330 lb plus 6' 3"operator, however I would be surprised if the mower really does go 8 mph. It... more

50 Hours Later
The first Zero Mower I have owned. Again as others have stated, research for the best bang for the buck always comes back to this mower. I mow 3 acres of grass in 2 hours and it does very well. Would buy the same mower again, if I had to re-choose.

very nimble for its size - have no problems mowing a tight radius (small trees)
heavier construction - especially the deck
comfortable seat
plenty of power - never bogged the motor down
not too bad on gas - can mow 6+ acres per fill.

Happy Owner
After countless hours of research, reading reviews on what seems like every zero turn mower out there, and stopping by every zero turn dealer in my area, I finally decided to go with the Ariens MaxZoom60. I must say that my decision was mostly because we recently bought one at my job site and everybody there that uses it, loves it. And, so far, I love mine too.

I was a little worried about ordering such an expensive item online, but the BBB rating, free shipping, and zero taxes helped... more

My First Choice
I was using a 54" lawn tractor to cut 2.5 acres of hilly uneven yard. I love to plant trees and already had many to navigate around. My grass grows fast and we had a lot of rain this year. Basically my yard was winning I was loosing. The 60" Ariens zero-turn stuck out right away as it was in my price range. I am glad I did not skimp on anything smaller. I can now cut my yard in 33% less time and eliminate trimming. This machine takes some getting use to, and you will tear up... more

Performs Great
I received the mower on time and with no damage. It runs and performs great.

I mow a 5 acre site that was about 4 feet tall, and the mower went through it with no trouble.

Small Wheels
Rear wheels need to be larger. They spin because they are too small.

Way Too Slow
I bought my Ariens Max Zoom 2 days ago from Home Depot and mowed with it yesterday.

The frame is really sturdy and the mowing deck is doing a good job, however, the machine is moving way too slow and the small tires don't deliver the grip they would need in order to be a match for the weight of the mower.
A 60 inch mowing deck is nice but with not enough speed you mow way longer than with a 50 or 54 inch mower that has decent speed.

Christmas In June
I'm just like a kid at Christmas, I can't get enough of my Ariens. It handles well on all terrains, cuts with ease, and reduces the cutting time in half. Excellent purchase, and I am well pleased.

Ariens 60 Inch Mower
This mower worked right out of the crate. Used it to mow about ten acres of bumpy cow pasture without any problems. Really like the maneuverability of the zero turn type mower. Expect to use this mower for many years to come.
Pros: Price, Easy To Use, Durable, I'd Buy It Again
