I needed a new snow blower in a hurry!
By Charles G.

Review Posted 03/28/2015
After 22 years of service, my old Troy Built snow blower died in the midst of one of the heaviest snow seasons coastal Maine has seen in a long time. With significant storms arriving every three or four days over a period that eventually lasted two months, I needed a replacement fast and there was nothing to be found within driving distance in a four state area.
Everyone was sold out. I found Snow Blowers Direct online and contacted them on a Wednesday morning, placing an order for for an Ariens Model # 921037, which shipped that afternoon. The unit was delivered the following Monday morning and was in service that evening. SBD's service was great and I would not hesitate to recommend them to someone else.

Good at keeping it from Snowing

I bought the new snow blower and put it together. Have only used it once. We are having a very low snow winter.
So far it works very well and am getting use to the auto-turn.
It throws the snow way farther than my old craftsman 24". Hopefully it snows more this year or the river run off will be poor.

Love it...but it is a little harder to turn than expected. And oil stick little short for reading with ease. But machine performs well.

The Ariens Deluxe way out performs our Sears. It's the A-One of all machines and does exactly what the ad states. Thank you for making a great product.

Good machine, poor docs

I wanted a heavy hitter for my sloped 70-foot driveway which is three cars wide. This Deluxe 28+ fit the bill perfectly as far as I can tell so far, after two large Northeast snowstorms. The machine does a great job.
The jury is still out on Auto-Turn. It can be helpful, at the end of a pass, but the downside is that the machine wants to steer itself sometimes based on the density of the ice & snow in the path, and this can unwantedly trigger Auto-Turn. It will not turn around 180 degrees, but it will try to steer to one side or the other once in a while when I don't want it to. But I'll live with a little of that in return for the power and weight of this snow blower.
As to the assembly instructions: printing and editing are just not very good. While it's true that anyone with snowblower experience can nearly assemble this with no manual at all, a few larger illustrations and clearer English text would have been nice. The videos on the Internet have not been upgraded to show this exact model, but they were more helpful than the manual.
Anyway, no harm done, I did assemble my new 28+, and it's a smokin' machine, all good so far.

A Snow Blowing Beast

I've never owned a snow blower before I bought this machine. I researched snow blowers on ConsumerReports.com. This machine had a very good review, so I Googled it and this site came up.
It was easy to put together in my garage, even though it was only 12 degrees. I had to use the electric start to get it going because I didn't know how to use the pull starter.
Anyway, I've been using it almost continuously since. The self-propelled machine goes up my steep driveway with no trouble at all. It's carved paths all around my snow filled property. I've even figured out how to use the pull starter. I couldn't be happier with it.

WORTH THE $

Everything went great from ordering to delivery. Every person I had contact with from PED was professional, including the delivery man.
The Ariens 28+ is an awesome snow blower I get a ton of that wet slushy plowed snow at the end of our driveway and the Ariens goes through it with no problem. And with the auto-turn, I'm around and out of the street in no time. And our street is dangerous.
I've only had it for 3 weeks, but have used it 4 times already and everything works great. I will try to update next year, but I did a lot of research (about 3 months) and always came up with the same result - ARIENS.
Also, Power Equipment Direct made the purchase easy. Last thing I replaced was a 20+ year old Craftsman, and I tried several other brands from family and friends. This make and model was a perfect fit for me.

Nice machine

Unfortunately, I had to buy another snow blower as the one I had was stolen. As far as I'm concerned, if the snow blower is not an Ariens, then it's a second rate machine. I am disabled with double knee replacements as well as a shoulder replacement. I needed a snow blower PDQ for a storm was bearing down on us. I went to stores around where I live and Pickens were slim and since there were no Ariens, at best I would have settled for much less. The machines were much less and the cost was more than I was going to spend. Supply and demand was definitely in play. The new Ariens I purchased was delivered and put in my house in half the time promised. While I have had the opportunity to use it once, the power is awesome . I can only imagine how many new friends I'll get. Thanks for bailing me out.
