Fit-up Problem
By Philip F.

Purchased 11/19/2014 |
Review Posted 12/10/2014
After assembling the unit, I tried to fit it up to my snow-blower per instruction only to find out that I could not turn the blower snow chute direction handle. I tried moving the connectors up as high as they would go but still could not turn handle.
Finally after an hour of attempting to find a way to make it fit, I contacted the company only to find out that they have extension pieces to resolve the problem and they shipped them out at no cost. Once received, everything fit okay.
It would have been nice if the directions would have made mention that if the unit doesn't fit, that you should contact the company for the parts required.

Bad Instructions, Not Sure If Anchors Will Prevent Rotation
Nice idea, but doesn't fit quite like it should.

Good quality materials, but the instructions didn't prepare me for the difficulty in getting the Velcro straps attached, nor the proper placement on my blower. After attaching it where recommended I found that the chute crank wouldn't operate. Had to move twice and the crank is still difficult to operate with cab attached. Also, the cab keeps sagging downwards after multiple tightenings of hardware, just waiting for a bolt to strip.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He made sure he put it together before last Friday's storm and was thrilled with the performance! Kept all the blowing snow off him! It was the perfect gift!

For several years I blew snow without a cab. Then I found this Ariens cab for my 28 inch blower and wow did it make a difference in all kinds of weather.
When I purchased my 36 inch blower I made sure that a new cab would fit. It turns out the cabs are identical and it works great on the bigger machine.
Out of the box they seem flimsy and too light weight, but attached they can take it, even in a blizzard. The instructions are pretty good, but it sure helps to have a second set of hands to attach the housing rods. I can't imagine blowing snow without a cab, and this one really keeps the snow out of the inside.

May Need additional Supports

I go this for my Ariens Model 2014 Snow blower and it assembled easy enough. The problem is that 2 clamps only hold on the cab. I had it out on a mild windy day (20-30 mph winds) and the wind would catch the cab and flip it forward over the engine. The 2 clamps are a perfect pivot point. After 2 flips forward and pulling back in to position the clamps did not hold anymore. The cab would either fall backward on its own weight or forward when the wind caught it. I ended up making 2 additional braces that go from the bottom bolts of the handle to the lower supports of the cab. Once winter gets here and we have 50-60 mph winds, I may have additional problems.

My problem with my Ariens 2-stage

When I purchased it I was told it would not pick up gravel, as my driveway is gravel and compacted pretty darn good. First time I was able to use it was this year and to my surprise I do have it adjusted as high as it will go but still picked up stone and went into my yard and now I have another mess too clean up when weather allows me to do so but I do think it would work for me if it wasn't for that.

Warm and cozy

Well, it took an entire night to assemble and was not easy. A few pictures in the manual would be helpful. The bubble boy, as we call it, worked well in keeping me warm and dry. A cup holder would be the icing on the cake. It arrived as promised and I am happy with my purchase. The only thing that is a negative is that it is big and makes getting into tight spaces difficult. It does rotate down on you occasionally so the mounting could be improved. Also, it does appear to reflect the headlight back but I did not use it at night so I am not sure. The other thing that would be nice is a quick disconnect to take it off for storage in the summer. If you want to be warm and cozy while snow blowing than this is it

Installation Problems

So far, it hasn't worked out well. I assembled it okay, but it won't stay vertical in operation. I have had to replace one part already, and haven't received that replacement yet. The cab keeps leaning back, and won't stay foreword.
I am installing some supporting lines, and I'll have to see how that works out. The part that broke is a J2. I hope I can fix it before the snow starts again.

Takes 2 people to put together
By Don

The kit was difficult to put together, it required two people. The cab support across the front is too low and your hand hits it when you redirect the chute. There is no way to raise the support without modifying the plastic shield that houses the light.
I was able to adjust it so the handle for the shoot still works, but have to hold the handle on the bottom only so my knuckles don't get banged up.
The cab does not come off easily as the instructions indicate. The connections are mainly pop up pins between the pieces and are not very sturdy. It wobbles in these joints.
The cab cover seems to be well built and I will continue to attempt to use it.
SBD RESPONDS: If you have questions about fit or assembly you can always give the folks at Ariens Tech Support a call at 920-756-4688.

The mounts that hold the vertical position are terrible. I had to use self tapping screws to get it to stay in one place.
