Nice Lawn Rake

This works great. My mower didn’t have a hitch and it’s a zero turn. Slightly more difficult to use than if it were on a tractor. But works none the less.

I have not been impressed with this purchase. I wish retiring it was an option. Actually makes leaf collection more challenging and time consuming than a traditional leaf blower.

Works Great, But......

Okay, the delivered package is heavy. Hard for one person to handle, but I expected that. The instructions aren't necessarily bad, but trying to follow step by step and determine which length bolt goes where gets a little confusing. The parts are sealed in plastic, but the 2 largest bolts were missing. I purchased what I needed locally and LBD offered to reimburse me but it was no big deal to me.
After fully assembled, I had to struggle with getting the height right with my Gator. Started making runs but my grass was too high, so I cut the grass (and leaves) then ran the sweeper. Holy cow does it pick up. Be prepared to empty it, a lot. Emptying it takes a considerable amount of force pulling on the rope. I'll put some kind of handle on it eventually. Now, I live in the foothills of the Appalachian. This thing does NOT like rough terrain. It can't handle uneven gravel driveways and it WILL pick up rocks and large gravel, too! Mine works great, but I now know the areas that are off-limits. It did work there but I know that it will become damaged with repeated use there. Got a big, flat or gently sloping yard? No issue! This thing is a beast but has its limitations. Not sure I'd buy it again merely due to my terrain, but I'll know more after next season.

One drawback is that there’s no way to disengage the brushes. If you have a long way to go to empty the bag (as I do), you end up sweeping that part of the lawn over and over again. So you have to make more trips to compensate for the extra grass and dirt you’ll pick up. If it’s too much, you’re going to end up shoveling it out of the catch bag.
The second flaw, although minor, is the cotter pin they give you for the bottom of the yoke pin/hitch assembly. Throw it away. Get a heavy-duty one with a washer.. Not all lawns are like golf courses. One bump and that cheap pin will pull right out of the hitch yoke capsizing the bagger.

Hits And Misses

Unboxed and used it once last week. My major gripe is the tow bar. Way too short... WHY?? This is my second sweeper. My first was the comparable Ohio Steel model. Wishing now that I'd stayed with that brand. I've got a driveway 1/4 mile long winding through forests, which means LOTS of leaves. When I am done, I tilt the basket forward. A typical day in the fall sees me loading the basket 8-15 times and dumping them onto my vegetable garden.
When I finish, I tip the basket over to tow the sweeper back to my storage shed. That's my first foul. When I tip the basket forward, it bangs into the lift arms of my 3-point hitch, not going far enough forward to ride in that position. IT IS MADDENING! A few more inches longer on the tow bar, and this wouldn't be a problem.
More problems with the height adjustment. Directions might've been nice. It comes with a peel-off sticker addressing this, but the sticker had no adhesive. I've got a tar & chip surfaced driveway. The sweeper very efficiently swept leaves and every last bit of the surface pea gravel into the basket. When I tried to adjust the height, the lever was immovable --- until I rotated the basket and emptied everything onto my driveway.

Works, But Not Great Material

So, the first run was good, aside from one of the bolt/nuts coming apart. I saw it happening, re-tightened everything, finished up ez-pz (using for grass on 1.3 acres, zero turn scag liberty). The second run was awful. Another bolt came off entirely, didn’t notice until I went to dump the first time. Replaced with the bolt I had, hasn’t come undone since. 5 minutes later, with about 1/4 hopper full of dried grass the nylon basket rips right between the two Velcro tube holders on the right side. That side falls off, the two rods that hold the back wall of the hopper pop out, and I’m stunned. Ha. Rip was horizontal to the ground, so I was able to Velcro the side back on and finish mowing, but the hopper is bad material, and I’m pretty unhappy with that. Picks up the grass really well though.
