Q: My water softener wash tube discharges into my sump pit. Will the Storm Pro BA Series Pump hold up to the salt water in the pit?
by Jim T from Ohio on January 29, 2014

A: The StormPro pumps are actually one of the few pumps that we offer that are designed for saltwater, so you should be fine!
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: How is a water tight electrical connection made from the float sw to Pump?
by Jay Shaffer from Pennsylvania on July 30, 2012

A: Each piece (Pump and float switch) have their own separate power cord. The plug for the float switch is a "piggyback" style plug similar to Christmas Tree lights. You would plug your float switch plug into your electrical outlet and then plug the cord from the pump directly into the "piggyback" outlet from the float switch.
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Is the Storm Pro Ba33m 1/3 HP UL inspected?
by Gregory Speicher from Pennsylvania on January 28, 2012

A: No they are not, but they do carry the CSA certification.

CSA International (Canadian Standards Association), a member of the CSA Group, is a provider of product testing and certification services for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, gas and a variety of other products. Recognized in the U.S., Canada and around the world, CSAs marks appear on billions of products worldwide.

CSA International certification marks indicate that a product, process or service has been tested to a Canadian or U.S. standard and it meets the requirements of an applicable CSA standard or another recognized document used as a basis for certification.

Q: 1. What HP do I need for 16 ft lift?
2. Water from the basement is contaminated with with iron oxide looks like red slime. What is the brand or type of sump pump can you recommend?
Thanks,
Joe

by Joe from New Jersey on December 13, 2011

A: At 16 feet of lift, pretty much any 1/2HP or greater pump should do the job for you. However, due to the iron oxide contaminated water, the pumps may not last as long as they would under normal water conditions.
Zoeller, StormPro and Pro Series pumps are some of our top brands and based on the water table in your area, I would say to stick with a 1/2HP if you're in a low-medium water table area and a 3/4HP only if your in a high water table area that experiences a lot of potential flooding.
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: I just purchased the Stormpro BA 75M pump and the plastic flange is broken.
Do you have replacement flanges and the gasket?. The flange is for a 2 inch discharge pipe.

Thanks,
Ron

by Ron Ukleja from New Jersey on November 05, 2011

A: Unfortunatley, we do not offer replacement parts. You might however, try calling StormPro tech support at (800) 323-1665, ext.231 for further assistance.
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: The Stormpro Model BA-75M does this come with a Check Valve?

If I am replacing an existing Sump Pump can I use the existing check valve of my Sump Pump to install a new Stormpro Model BA-75M?

by Anonymous from New Jersey on October 16, 2011

A: The StormPro model BA-75M as with all of our sump pumps, does not come with a check valve. It is always recommended to change out the check valve when replacing a pump.
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Can you tell me wjhat are the start up and running wattage of the 1/2 and 3/4 StormkPro. I need those reqiurements in order to size my stand-by generator.
Thanks

by Jef Hoeberichts from New Jersey on May 21, 2011

A: Unfortunately, we only list the running amps (BA-33M - 4.5 amps and BA-50M - 5.8 amps). You might try calling StormPro tech support at (800) 323-1665 x231
for the starting amp ratings.

Q: I currently have a 1/3 hp Hydromatic Pentair Water sump pump that the builder put in about 2 years ago. It almost was overwhelmed a few times over the past two years. With the heavy rains in PA this spring my basement flooded twice as the pump could not handle the water intake during the storms. In addition I have a high water table. Would you recommend a bump up to this 3/4 hp beast? I want to make sure that I am doing everything I can to prevent a future flooded basement.
by Eric Altenburger from Pennsylvania on May 18, 2011

A: You have a few options. 1. You might want to consider adding a battery backup system. These systems will not only work during power outages to provide extra security but will also kick in when your primary pump is unable to keep up with the incoming rush of water. 2. Adding a second primary pump with a the float switch set at a higher level than your main pump. Note that you would need to get a pump with a "piggyback" style switch such as the StormPro BA series pumps that can be attached to the discharge and set at any height. 3. Bump up to a 1/2HP primary pump. Going from a 1/3HP to a 3/4HP is too large of a jump and would cause issues such as cycling too often and shortening the life of the pump. Bigger is not always better when it comes to sump pumps.
One last option might be to have a UTILITY pump to handle situations where heavy rains can cause a possible flooding situation.
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: i need a pump to lift 25 ft what would you have
by Galen from Indiana on May 10, 2011

A: This StormPro model BA-75M would do the job for you. This model will pump about 2400 GPH at 25 feet of head.
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: High water table basement. In heavy rains, I sometimes need to use two 1/2 HP sump pumps to handle flow. Would this be a good primary pump or should I use a sewage pump?
by Jim from Illinois on March 14, 2011

A: Sewage pumps should not be used in a sump pit. The pump you inquired about should work fine for your application.
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: How does the sump pump connect to the independent float switch, Does the pump plug into the switch and the switch plugs into the power?
by Mark from New Jersey on February 09, 2011

A: Yes, most external float switches utilize this design. It's consider a "Piggyback" style plug. Very similar to how sets of Christmas lights connect to each other.
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Will I be able to use this pump outdoors, from the spring to the fall during the rainy periods.
by Frank from Pennsylvania on January 30, 2011

A: Yes, this pump can be used outdoors. Just make sure to clean the intake screen on a regular basis to maintain optimal pumping performance.
by Jim, Product Expert
Q: Hi Jim. I know the float can be attached to discharge line. I'm wondering what the maximum On/Off points are. Looking to figure out how many inches of water will be pumped out per cycle. Thanks.
by Charlie from New York on January 05, 2011

A: The on/off differential for the float switch is about 6.5".

If youre looking for a heavy-duty pump, choose an iON. These pumps were originally sold only by plumbers, contractors and plumbing distributors. Now you have the opportunity to buy what the professionals do.

These pumps are built to last, bottom line. With a volute and motor housing made of cast iron and stainless steel, they will provide years of reliable operation. They also use a cast iron impeller which extends the life of the pump even longer.

iON pumps use high efficiency motors... more

Great Pump, But Tricky Plastic Discharge Coupling
Love the pump. Great performance. Great switch. Quiet, powerful, efficient, and small footprint size. I can fit 2 of them in my sump pit and they can run much longer on battery backup power supply.

My only complaint - the threaded discharge coupling is plastic, and was very difficult to thread a 2" pipe to. It kept wanting to cross-thread, and I had to be VERY careful not to strip it or break it when attaching the discharge pipe. Not sure if there was a slight mismatch in the threads... more

Its A Workhorse!
In mid-Michigan we received 4.5 inches of rain in a 30 hour period, last weekend! I had put my Storm Pro 3/4 hp. pump in last November. It hadn't had much of a workout until this past storm. The water in my sump pit got to 3 inches of the top of pit, and the pump had to continuously run for almost that entire time, but it kept up! I was ready to plug in my backup sump pump but it wasn't needed. During this time my neighbors on both sides flooded. This pump with 2in. discharge made the... more

Storm Pro Sump Pump
We recently had severe rain storms that we had never experienced before. Although our old low cost pedestal pump did not breakdown, it could not quite keep up with the flow of water coming into the basement. We did have a small spare sump that we had to use in tandem and they, together, barely kept up. With that experience we had to re-evaluate our sump pump setup.

We looked at three different models Sump Pump Direct had and decided to go with this one which was considered the best. We... more

This Pump Is Great!
Great pump! I previously had a 3/4 HP sump pump with a 1 1/2" output and we had several hard rains and the pump could not keep up with it. Now with this pump with a 2" output no problem! It handled the heavy rains. I'm so happy!

Screw Thread Distorted
Despite numerous attempts by myself and friend, we could not screw a 2" pvc threaded coupling into the pump outlet, even after we purchased a second one from another store. Ii called the returns number on the package, and they shipped out another female outlet. This worked so long as i did not tighten the 2 retaining screws too tightly. If I tightened them as tight as on the purchased pump, the connector did not fit. seems the tightening distorts the female thread. Seems the factory... more

"i Installed The Beast"
The area I live in mid-Michigan, has high water table. In late winter and early spring we have melting snow and heavy rains. We have 4ft. crawlspace under house, which flooded a couple of times because box store sump pump 3/4 hp. could not keep up! I have installed Storm Pro 3/4 hp. pump with 2in. discharge. Im hopefull this pump can handle the heavy rains and melting snow? For backup I have old 3/4 hp. pump in pit with flexible 1-1/2 in. discharge line. Ive also installed loud water alarm in... more

Stormpro 3/4 Hp So Far, So Good
I can't give a 5 star rating yet. The pump has only been in a week so it hasn't had to work hard since there has been little rain. In heavy rain, I get a very high water flow from outside. Surprisingly the contractor pump it replaces worked well for the past 6 years since the house was built. But it finally gave up its ghost. Since this is twice the size and more HP I expect it to work even better. It does drain the sump very quickly I'm happy to say. The larger 2 inch outlet helps.

Denis,
In regards to you comments about the flow switch. Having a 6-8 inch pumping range is ideal for standard sump pit. We've never had any issues regarding short cycling with this pump/switch.

Good Pump
I like the fact that they give you the pump ratings with GPH with feet of lift. That measurement really matters and is often not published by lesser manufacturers. This pump kept up with the rainiest weather in the history of Illinois. My other brand 3/4 HP pump had to be augmented in the heaviest of downpours but this pump kept up, quietly and effortlessly.

You have to use caution and I'd recommend a little bit of lubricant when screwing on the 2" to PVC adapter - but the pump works... more

Excellent Pump!!
I have currently had this pump for 3.5 years. It pumps a minimum of twice a day for 10 minutes each time it runs. Right now we are having record setting rainfall in the Denver metro area and this pump has not missed a beat. Sometimes it cycles 10 times a day and runs for up to a half hour due to the abnormal amount of water flowing in the creek right behind my house.

I remove it from the sump and clean it once a year just to make sure it all looks good the impeller still spins like the day... more
