  3 Questions
Q: Is this usable on gravel and uneven walkway slabs
by Anonymous from Pennsylvania on November 19, 2011

A: Yes, it's usable, but I never recommend any electric or gas-powered single stage snow blowers for gravel surfaces. The auger paddles on these models engage the surface being cleared of snow, so you will throw not only the snow, but small rocks and stones from your driveway as well.
by Joe, Product Expert
Q: How long a cord can be used? How deep is the snow that can be handeled by this blower?I am 79 yrs and want to do walkways and paths. Would this do the trick? nThanks
by Ann Valair from Massachusetts on August 13, 2011

A: Ann - you can use up to 150 feet of extension cord to operate the Toro 1800 Power Curve. If using 101 to 150 feet of extension cord, you would need to use a 12-gauge outdoor rated cord. If using 100 feet or less of extension cord, you can use a 14-gauge outdoor rated cord. The Toro 1800 Power curve will handle light, fluffy snowfall of up to about 10 inches. Figure on 5 or 6 inches max if the snow is wet and heavy.
by Joe, Product Expert
Q: On "consumer Search", the TORO 1800 was recommended for "flat" surfaces. I have a sloped driveway - would that be a problem for this snowblower ?
by Allan Shapiro on July 03, 2011

A: It would not be a huge problem, it would depend on how sloped the surface was. If you have a larger driveway, it may be a problem just because this unit is electric. Just keep in mind one of the main reasons this is suggested for flat surfaces is because you are actually pushing this. The paddles give you a little help, but you are pushing for the most part.

Thanks,

Power Equipment Direct Recommended

The perfect tool for residential use, the Toro 1800 Electric Power Curve snow blower is small in scale, but mighty in removing snow from driveways and walkways. The 1800 is also great for managing your large decks and patios so small pets or weight can be taken away from the structure without damaging it. Deep-cutting blades and powerful 15 amp electric motor move up to 700 pounds of snow per minute and can launch snow up to 30 feet. All while the adjustable chute puts that snow right where... more

My Second Toro Power Curve
I bought my first Toro blower 20 years ago. It was repaired twice during that time and finally died. Of course, I sought out a new one. The improvements they have made during that time make the new one even more fun to use.
Pros: Light Weight, Quiet, Durable, Powerful

Crazy About This Snowthrower
I have back problems and little arm strength due to an injury. I am 65 yrs old and 5 foot 3. This machine is easy for me to maneuver. The only drawback is to get to one area of my yard to the front yard I have to go across some lawn areas.

It chews up the grass a little. It arrived the day before Thanksgiving when we got 6 inches of heavy snow (2014). Took 15 minutes to assemble and off I went clearing a path to my detached garage and walkways for my arriving guests.
Pros: Light Weight, Easy To Store, I'd Buy It Again, Fast
Cons: None

Exactly What We Were Looking For
We purchased the Toro 1800 as a replacement to physical therapists, chiropractors, etc. In other words, replace shoveling our outdoor decks. It's light weight but strong enough to plow through 10" of new powder or 5-6" of heavy snow and throw it far enough away to not pile up on the deck below. We have some tough winters in Crested Butte, but so far through 4 early storms this winter with a combined 4 feet of snow it is working great.

Good Value
Bought this for my Dad who is in his 70's and in snow country with no family around to shovel for him. It is light weight enough for him to handle, reliable and and as he said, "a nice toy!"
Pros: Light Weight, Easy To Use, I'd Buy It Again, Great For My 70 Year-old Dad To Handle
Cons: Packaging, Some Washers Fell Out Of Box Before It Was Opened

Needed A Small Snow Blower
Was surprised at the fast delivery. $ or 5 days. Easy assembly and worked well in 5 inches of snow. Needed to push a little to get through the deep snow. Plow as soon after snow fall before it packs down. A good snow blower for the price.

Great For Decks Too!
Purchased this because the fumes from the gas powered snow blower made my wife sick. We wanted a snow blower that would handle snow at least 10 inches, even though where we live doesn't get that very often. I was concerned about an electric unit being powerful enough to remove snow. Well, I was wrong this unit is lightweight enough for my wife to handle and gets the job done for us. The fact that it works well on our wooden deck was a bonus before we had to struggle with a shovel. Good product,... more
