  4 Questions
Q: Is assembly required?
by Tony Rube from New Jersey on January 25, 2015

A: Tony - there would be some minor assembly required on the Toro 38381. You would need to attach the discharge chute to the top of the snow blower housing, connect the chute rotation rod, and fold up and adjust the handle into the correct position.
by Joe, Product Expert
Q: Is this usable on gravel and uneven walkway slabs
by Anonymous from Pennsylvania on November 19, 2011

A: Yes, it's usable, but I never recommend any electric or gas-powered single stage snow blowers for gravel surfaces. The auger paddles on these models engage the surface being cleared of snow, so you will throw not only the snow, but small rocks and stones from your driveway as well.
by Joe, Product Expert
Q: How long a cord can be used? How deep is the snow that can be handeled by this blower?I am 79 yrs and want to do walkways and paths. Would this do the trick? nThanks
by Ann Valair from Massachusetts on August 13, 2011

A: Ann - you can use up to 150 feet of extension cord to operate the Toro 1800 Power Curve. If using 101 to 150 feet of extension cord, you would need to use a 12-gauge outdoor rated cord. If using 100 feet or less of extension cord, you can use a 14-gauge outdoor rated cord. The Toro 1800 Power curve will handle light, fluffy snowfall of up to about 10 inches. Figure on 5 or 6 inches max if the snow is wet and heavy.
by Joe, Product Expert
Q: On "consumer Search", the TORO 1800 was recommended for "flat" surfaces. I have a sloped driveway - would that be a problem for this snowblower ?
by Allan Shapiro on July 03, 2011

A: It would not be a huge problem, it would depend on how sloped the surface was. If you have a larger driveway, it may be a problem just because this unit is electric. Just keep in mind one of the main reasons this is suggested for flat surfaces is because you are actually pushing this. The paddles give you a little help, but you are pushing for the most part.

Thanks,

Power Equipment Direct Recommended

The perfect tool for residential use, the Toro 1800 Electric Power Curve snow blower is small in scale, but mighty in removing snow from driveways and walkways. The 1800 is also great for managing your large decks and patios so small pets or weight can be taken away from the structure without damaging it. Deep-cutting blades and powerful 15 amp electric motor move up to 700 pounds of snow per minute and can launch snow up to 30 feet. All while the adjustable chute puts that snow right where... more

Needed something my lovely bride could handle if I'm out of town. Assembly was a snap, light weight and seems very easy to handle.... First snow extremely light .... but drifted enough to give it a try. Meets everything as advertised and all the great comments seem to be true so far.

A Pleasant Surprise!
Update Two: So, the other day I looked out at our rear balconies (2nd floor) and realized there was close to two feet of snow/ice on each and that much weight might become a problem. Chipping and shoveling it would have ended with me in traction. It occurred to me that I could carry the Toro up our stairs (without threat of murder by my wife) and that it would be able to maneuver in the small spaces. It worked! I couldn't clear all of it on one pass, but by going over the same area a few times... more

This Thing Blows...in A Good Way!!!
I love this machine. I thought it being electric it was going to be a dud. I thought wrong. We have had three storms all within a few weeks and it plowed through them all. I even took it up on my pitched roof (I don't recommend that of course) and it took all the snow off. I highly suggest anyone on the cusp of buying it to give it a try. You wont be disappointed. Also, Snow Blowers Direct got my order there like 3 days earlier then they said. Thanks again.

Upstate New York Believer
This machine is the greatest! I love the fact that I don't have to use gasoline or mix anything. Just plug in and off you go. The time I save and wear and tear on my body makes this the best purchase I have made this winter. It has been put to the test several times and I have been 100 percent thrilled with the results.

Great Electric Snow Blower
This is my second power curve 18". My first lasted over 5 years and was awesome. This one is just as good. Clears almost anything.

For deeper snow, just take a smaller section and it works just fine. It saves your back and is much easier than shoveling. The best part is that there's no gasoline or oil needed. Just plug in and go!

Second Verse, Same As The First.
I bought my first Toro 1800 in the mid 90's. Lasted 20 years. Hoping this one will do the same. SBD shipped it on the day I ordered it, and it came intact. No one else in New England had one at the time.

My Toro Shorted Out And I Ordered A New One
I cannot get the rod to control the snow chute. It worked great on my old one, but this one won't connect so I have to manually turn the chute in the direction I need it to go.

Happy With My Purchase!
I had looked at several electric snow blowers before purchasing this unit. I almost bought another model, but after reading the reviews, I decided on the Toro.

I had a very old Toro 14" Snow Pup that served me well for a long time. I just couldn't get parts for it any more. I have only used this twice, but it has done what I needed it to do.....save wear and tear on my back. I'm happy at this time with my purchase.

Great Buy
I wanted a small snow thrower to clean up after my plow guy. This Toro1800 is the perfect machine for my needs. Light weight yet quite powerful for its size. Handles snow up to 6-8 inches easily and can do deeper but it takes a little slower going to get through it. I would recommend this machine for light snow removal.

Buying Through Sbd Was A Real Pleasure
This is the second Toro I have purchased, The first one lasted 12 years. Buying through Snow Blowers Direct was a real pleasure. Their price was cheaper than Amazon's. More importantly, I ordered the snow blower on Monday in late afternoon, and it was delivered to the house on Thursday morning.

What great service. I think I may be asking this machine to do more than it was intended for. Driveway is 200 feet long. This last storm dropped 6" of rather heavy snow. The blower worked... more
