  4 Questions
Q: What is the difference between Personal Pace and Self Propelled?
by Steve Brasington from South Carolina on April 09, 2015

A: Steve - Toro's "Personal Pace" system is one type of self-propelled drive system on a walk behind mower. The Personal Pace self-propel system automatically adjusts the speed of the mower to your walking speed. With a normal self-propelled system, the speed of the mower is controlled with a bail, a lever or some other mechanical means.

Q: With the electric start of the Toro Timemaster, does it also have the coil start with it?
by Terry Bailey from Michigan on May 18, 2014

A: Terry - yes, the Toro 20200 has a recoil (rope start) option as well as the electric start.
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: Can you get this mower with swivel wheels in front and also a stripper? Please reply.
by Larry Alsleben from Minnesota on March 09, 2013

A: Larry - the Toro TimeMaster does not have a front swivel wheel option. As for a lawn striper, this is what you would need: lawn striper
by Jose, Product Expert
Q: RE: Toro 20200: Can this unit be operated without the bag in place? How is it delivered, what is owner set-up involve? Thanks.
by Derek Braybrooks from South Carolina on May 29, 2012

A: Derek - yes, the Toro TimeMaster mower can either discharge the clippings or mulch the clippings without the bagger being attached - just like a standard 21" mower. This mower would be delivered in it's shipping carton via a semi truck to your home or business. Assembly is very simple. Fold up and tighten the handle, attach the bagger if you want to bag, add oil and gas, and start mowing.

Don't Waste Your Money
Bad quality control. No replacement for an obvious 'lemon', worthless warranty.

After four hours of use, the start & self-propel mechanisms broke. The mower wouldn't recharge & yes, I completely went by the manual.

After over a week at the repair shop (they wouldn't replace it), it came back about 75% of what it should be doing. Repairs would have cost me a fortune, so I had to deal with it - in spite of being disabled with a bad back.

It's been six months now & the mower... more

Fast But Under Powered In Grass Taller Than 8 Inches
The mower is fast, light and works well when mowing on a regular basis and keeping a consistent height. It does struggle with higher grass in the mulch mode. The cub cadet may have been a better choice for power, but is much heavier.

10% Winner 90% Looser
Winner: Great idea, personal pace works great, and I am okay with the price.
Looser: I had my mower 3 years and it is now out or warranty. I only cut 3/4 acre weekly 6 -7months a year.

1) 190cc engine is too small. I see 190cc engines on 21 inch models. The blades will not straighten the grass for a clean cut when the grass is damp. I have to recut the grass or recut it with my old 21 inch model.

2) After 20 minutes of cutting the mower will not climb a hill. I took the mower back to the... more

This Mower Is A Beast
I looked at this mower for months, both on the Mowers Direct web site and at Home Depot locally. I read every review and almost decided against it based on some of the negative reviews. But I felt the good outweighed the bad and went ahead and ordered it.

First, the online shopping with Mowers Direct could not be easier and I saved on the sales tax over buying it locally, plus free shipping to my house. The mower arrived right when it was supposed to and the shipping company was great to... more

Love It!
I have had the mower for about a month, I have mowed six times. I purposely mowed overly tall wet grass the first time. The mower struggled a bit, as to be expected, but I walked a bit slower and it chewed through it. Wet tall grass does make a mess under the deck that needs to be cleaned. The second mow was normal growth and it had no problems.

By my watch I can mow more twice as fast as I could with my 19 inch mower. I attribute this to the wider path, and the personal pace top speed... more

Buyer Beware
I bought this mower an immediately started having issues. I thought it may have been me at first but it was leaving a trail of grass uncut after 2 attempts and having to cut my grass 2 times each time I finally took it in for service. The owner of the store I went to said they have had this happen a couple other times but not often (Not a big relief to me). So they added a ("Product Improvement") to my mower installing a baffle and new high lift blades. I only used it a few more... more

Stephen,
We're sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience with your Toro TimeMaster. Although you didn't purchase the mower from us, we do know that it comes with a three-year consumer warranty. Try giving them another call at 888-384-9939 and asking if you're still within your 3-year warranty period.

Disappointed
Received the mower from PED via motor freight just fine. No problem with final assembly - very easy.

Engine seems to be a bit underpowered and the self propel works fine on flat ground but on an incline it fails terribly. Finally, had to stop mower to refill the gas and had to wait 30+ minutes for the engine to cool before it would start again. Probably would not buy another because of these problems.
Pros: Easy To Store
Cons: Expensive, Underpowered Hard To Start When Hot And Weak Self Propel

One Of The Best Mowers I Have Ever Owned
I have to say that I read several reviews that really bothered me. Toro has never let me down and I thought I would give it a try. To my amazement, it was much better than I thought it be. It takes one a little time to get use to the handling of the machine.
1. Grass bag worked perfect and it filled up to the top without any problems.
2. I keep my grass quite short and it works perfectly.
3. Engine starts immediately.
4. This lawn mower is not for someone who has a small piece of... more

Awesome Mower!!
I was hesitant to order a mower online, sight unseen. But I must report that this is the best mower I have ever owned. It is completely awesome. My old mowers, riding and walk behind, would bog down in tall or moist grass. This mower plows through it all and asks for more. The mulching is so fine that you can not see any clippings.

I used to bag my grass cuttings. Not any more. I very highly recommend this mower. PS: it also cut my mowing time dramatically with the 30" cut. Less time... more
