I am a mechanic who works on two-cycle equipment for a living. So far i have found that every powermate cultivator is of very low quality. They are unreliable and product support is bad. --do not buy this product--- you will eventually regret it. They are a cheap piece of junk...

Used One Time
Broke the thing out of the box. Used it for two hours, Worked fine. Place it in the Barn and brought it out about two months later and the darn thing wouldn't start. I thought I might have flooded it so I put it up and took it out this spring. Still wouldn't start. Found out the Carburetor was bad. $80.00 for a new one and Home Depot wouldn't take the thing back.
Don't bother to buy this piece of Junk.

Garbage And Lousy Customer Service
I bought a tiller about 1 year ago in Sylacauga, Al at the Home Depot there. It was the Powermate Model PCV43. I used it for approximately 10 hours and then put it away til this spring. I only used "real" gas. No ethanol! With the required amount of oil in it of course. It was NOT stored with any fuel in it. I ran it dry.

Imagine my surprise when I got it out of storage and went to use it and the fuel lines had melted together. The filter was pretty much an unrecognizable piece of... more

Wanted A Light Powerful Tiller, Got A Piece Of Junk!
I bought this from the Home Depot for $200. Got it home, worked well for a month. Pull cord broke, so I investigated the warranty. Nearest repair shop for warranty work is over 90 miles one way! I ordered the part online and repaired it my self for $48. One year later primer bulb disintegrated. Again repaired my self for $6. One week later carburetor is failing. Lessons learned the Depot sells crap, will not stand behind their merchandise. Priceless.

Gonna buy a Husqvarna with Briggs... more

Can't Find Replacement Part
To be fair this is about the same engine except I have an 8 inch tine model. Used the tiller right after we got home. It worked fine for last summer. Stored it over the winter taking care it was cleaned for storage. Tried to start it this summer and couldn't get it going. Started to look for problems and found that the primer bulb was torn and fuel was leaking out of it. Looked through my manual and found that there is no part replacement chart. Got on the computer, found my model and they do... more

Junk Dont Buy It
We also purchased the Powermate PVC43 and used it for one planting season. The following year we took out the stored tiller and guess what, won't work. As I'm reading other reviews, looks like nobody is happy with this tiller. I do have a friend looking at the carburetor. I'm hoping he can troubleshoot the problem. If not I'm going to put it on the curb! I'm usually a Lowes shopper. Will never go back to Home Depot. They do not back their products.

Junk
Used it 4 hrs last summer. Stored it, tried for 2 days straight to get it started. Nothing, fuel issues. Should have bought a Mantis. This thing was a waste of money . Don't but Powermate POS.

Chinese Scam
I bought at Home Depot and used it for one season. The owners manual never said anything about it being a one season of use tiller. I tried for three days to get it to run. Only runs on starting fluid. Another POS from Home Depot.

Price Reflects The Quality
This tiller is a use once out of the box deal and then is junk. By all reviews, it has an inherent carb and fuel intake problem. Mine worked good for the first year and the following year it wouldn't start. The problem was the plastic spacer block between the carb and engine block does not seal properly and the air/fuel mixture is wrong. I can take it apart and put in new gaskets along with some gasket sealer to get it to run, but the next time I start it the same problem happens again. I... more

Trans Tore Up First Use
First time use and trans locked up. Got as gift from kids, no receipt so I could not return it. Took unit apart and manufacturer used a brass gear driven by a steel worm gear..The steel worm gear has torn teeth out of the brass gear and the transmission is locked up tight. I've only found one place to get the trans and it's $94 plus shipping. The brass gear is not available for purchase. Very poor design. Would not recommend to anyone.
Pros: Easy To Use, Light Weight, Easy To Store, Not Much Fuel To Run
Cons: Low Quality, Unreliable, Durability, Trans Uses Brass Gearbad Idea

Only Good For One Season
I bought the Powermate at Home Depot. The first year it was fine. Got it out the second year and it would start, but no power to turn the tines. Had it repaired twice. Used the exact amount of oil and gas, stored it according to the manual. Horrible piece of equipment. Will never buy another Powermate. Junk.
