Great Choice....terrible Line Feed
This lives up to all the great ratings, including Consumer Reports, it received. Starts on the second pull every time. Runs great and is very powerful. My only complaint would be the line feed system. I purchased this less than a month ago. The only way to get the line out is to turn it off, take the head off and unwind the amount of line you need and put the head back on.

I am going to go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy a universal head where you pre-cut your line and it just clips in.... more

Poorly Designed Starter Recoil
I'm a home owner, and this is my 2nd year having the trimmer. I can't say I have used it a lot, however this year the starter recoil failed to retract the cord.

I fixed it using new parts only to have it fail after one use. Had a pro make the repair with the same result. Both the Pro & I agree there is a design problem.

Best Trimmer I've Had!
Having worn out three Weed Eater trimmers in recent years, I wanted something better. The customer reviews were positive, illustrating the more heavy duty capabilities of this Trimmer. It cost over twice what I paid for the Weed Eaters. But, I'm hoping I won't need to replace it anytime soon... I've only used it a couple of hours but so far so good.

Still Going Strong
I have had this trimmer now over 7 years and it starts right up on the first or second start every time. Never had any issues with it, just out fuel in replace the line every now and then and go at it. Never gets bogged down on anything, I usually only have to run it a 1/4 throttle when cutting grass. I have replaced the spark plug once and cleaned the air filter a few times and this thing just keeps on going. If anything ever happens to it I will definitely buy another one just like it,... more

Great Weedwacker
I purchased for my husband as a birthday gift to replace his old Sthl. We had the other one for 8 years and paid much more than this new one. It never really ran correctly from the beginning. We were pleasantly surprised when we received this Husqvana model. Right out of the box, easy assembly and within 15 minutes he added gas and was off.

We have a lot of property and a small pond. It cut right through the tall weeds around the pond with out any issue. It was at this time we... more

Best Trimmer I Have Ever Purchased
Just bought the Husqvarna 223L. I have 4+ acres to trim around that includes woods, wetlands, water retention area, and more. I have gone through several weed whackers in the past including Echo, WeedEater, and Cub Cadet. This Husqvarna is a beast! Started on the 2nd pull right out of the box. Nothing stopped this thing. I ran it wide open for an hour and it never hesitated. You can't clog the head on this thing. I've got cattails that would stop most whackers- not this one. It went... more

City Slicker/subural
I never paid a lot of attention to the back-back yard of my property because of the irregular ground. And because of that, brush in the form of knot weed, sumac, thistle, and some kind of thorny plant have taken over. I've made quite a few attempts to gain control but the time, effort, many restarts and frustration that occurred while using sub-par trimmers was too much. I did some homework and in field research ( interviewed pro landscapers) that tend my company's and surrounding businesses... more

Burn Hazard
This trimmer will do everything a homeowner would expect from it. Ease of starting and runs trouble free. It does however have 1 major issue. When used for an extended period of time, it will burn skin on your forearm. The burning is due from exhaust and engine cooling air exits.

Very Powerful Trimmer With One Defect
I have had my 223L for about a month and have used it a few times. I am a homeowner with a large yard (about 2 acres) that has a lot of plant and flower beds--trees----sidewalks and driveway edges. Trimming usually takes me almost 2 hours in this hot Florida sun.
I purchased the 223L to replace 32cc trimmer that weighed in at about 15 pounds. The 223L is more powerful, weighs significantly less, and is a gas miser. I was wary of the small fuel tank--but it was enough to complete my work... more

Excellent Product For Some People
This is an excellent trimmer for some people. I am use to using Stihl trimmer. There are some differences. First the Stihl has a flatter head on the advance spool, so you can get closer to your cutting and I find I can judge what I am cutting better so I don't clip the wife's flowers. The second thing is when I go to trim, I automatically rest my arm on the plastic shroud surrounding the motor. With the Husqvarna you do not want to do that. The shroud gets very warm so I have to adjust the... more

I like this trimmer. I filled it with gas, gave it 2 pulls, and it started right up.

It cuts good- NO more $99 trimmers.

Awesome Trimmer With Ample Power And Great On Fuel!
So I had a 7 year old Homelite 26cc trimmer from the orange box and it worked okay for the first couple years but required a lot of adjustment of the carburetor to the point that it was flooding out. It also spun the opposite way I was used to and sprayed me with tons of debris. So it was time to upgrade. This time I wanted a professional unit that would have a clutched trimmer, light weight and not require constant adjustment. Well this fit the bill. I reviewed and researched many units to see... more

Nylon Starter Pulley Failed In Less Than A Dozen Uses
Shortly after the 2-year warranty expired on my 223L, after using it for no more than a dozen times, the starter rope wouldn't pull back in. I took it apart and discovered that the starter pulley (p.n. 544038601) is made of NYLON, and the spring (p.n. 544038801) had dug a channel through it. $250 trimmers ought to last more than a dozen uses!

Calling Husqvarna customer support was useless it's outsourced to "Dixie Sales". They would only sell me a replacement pulley for $14,... more

Engine Overheats
I have owned this unit for approximately 6 months and found it to be unreliable from day one. It starts easy, but runs about 15 minutes before it overheats and stops running. I have to set it aside to cool before I can get it to run again.
Pros: Features, Light Weight
Cons: Unreliable

Satisfied Customer
This weed trimmer arrived quickly. It was easy to assemble, and a far cry better than the heavy one I was used to using. I was actually happy with that one finally died! Not only is the Husqvarna lighter but also more powerful. I am so happy to have made this purchase and will definitely return to this site for more products when I need them.

Great Trimmer
Recently moved from a home with a small 1/3 acre lot where I used an inexpensive electric model to a 1.5 acre lot where I needed the power and mobility of a trimmer like this. PED reviews and other customer ratings were spot on for this trimmer and I realized all the same pros.

I have not had the problem with the only "con" regarding the hot exhaust, but I am sure that could be a concern with any two stroke device where the motor is in such close proximity to the operator's hands... more

Light Weight, Well Balanced And Powerful For The Size
My primary reason for choosing this brand is based on previous good experience / ownership with a Husqvarna chainsaw -15 years of use - solid performance and reliable.

I have owned several mid-line Echo trimmers over the last twenty years and all have had starting / carb issues even after carb rebuilds and experimenting with higher octane gas / mixes.

This 223L starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull every time - a pleasant change. While this model has a relatively small engine by comparison to... more

Highly Rated String Trimmer. What A Pos
Used once for about one hour. The automatic feed feature does not work at all. The shaft of the trimmer got so hot after about 45 mins of light trimming that it burnt the skin off my hand.

Husqvarna has lost my business permanently. They used to sell good equipment. Over the years I have had great luck with their chain saws and other equipment. The last two Husky purchases have turned me to the point I will never purchase anything Husky again.

This sting trimmer was an utter piece of... more
