Incredible Customer Service, Great Generac Features/unit
I purchased the model #7029 to replace my older Generac unit based off its features, name, and price. Generac has come a long way with its programming over the years. Being lucky enough to use my existing transfer switch, I was amazed how quiet the new unit was. Great unit, I'd recommend it to anyone looking to backup their grid if up to 9 KW were needed.

I purchased this generator and it arrived on time and good. I had the unit installed and all looked well, but that was when the trouble started. I was able to get the unit running and activated on 12-13-16 the unit performed an exercise all was well. Next week the Unit failed on the next exercise. The Unit gave a error code 1300 low oil pressure and I checked the oil and the level was good. Cleared the code and it would continue to run. Another exercise again failed Error code 1300 low oil pressure, I again check and the unit was good on oil cleared the code and it would run.
I check the run logs and error logs unit when cold runs for approximately 6 mins and then fails. inspected around the case and the and oil is leaking out the crank case of the engine. Contacted Electric Generators Direct and they were helpful in getting me a number for a service pro select service center. Company refused to service my unit because I purchased it from Electric Generators Direct and not them.
I contacted another company and still waiting. Contacted another customer service member and told him that I have a expensive unit that I cant use and wanted it replaced because I can't get someone to fix it. The refused and I understand that it is their policy not to replace it and to have it serviced, but I can't get it serviced.
I asked him if I can't get it fixed under warranty if I was just screwed or what and he stated that he guessed I was. I finally got ahold of one of the Generac support employee Kathy that works the night shift and she was the only Generac employee ever to ask my serial number to start a case. For now I have a expensive generator that I cant trust to work for my home and family. To say the least I feel out of luck and out money I worked hard for.
If you buy from Electric Generators Direct expect to have the possibility of having a unit that you can get warranty work performed on. My generator is brand new and worthless. I had to save up for years to get this unit for my family and now that I got it I cant use it. Too get Generac to replace it you have to have a certified company look at it and because I can't get that I am stuck with a unit I can't use.
