The Cub Cadet RT65 dual rotating rear tine garden tiller is built tough and it's priced so that any homeowner can afford one! This workhorse will dig deep and turn over the most compacted soil with ease.

The Cub Cadet RT65 rear tine tiller features a premium 187cc Honda GC-series engine that fires this tiller up quickly and easily. The transmission is self-propelled with forward and reverse operation. The tines are 13 inches in diameter and are dual rotating, heat treated, and... more

I was so stoked it was together. It started on the first pull. No problems so far. I'd do this again.

Not Very Tough
I spent the extra bucks to get the Honda engine. The rest of the tiller does not match the quality. On first use, a 2-1/2" small rock destroyed the transmission. Warranty will not cover it at all.

Do not buy to break new ground is you suspect some rocks will be found. This tiller cannot handle the job. Hire a professional service with real equipment to do the first till, then after clearing all rocks, try your own.
Cons: Unreliable, Durability, Not Tough, Not For Even Small Rocks

Cub Tiller
This is a great tiller. I used it now for about one month. It arrived by truck in great shape, no damage. I just had to attach the handle and control cable. They even included a quart of oil. It is nice and quiet and starts very easily. Plenty of power to get the job done. The only drawback is that it is a little difficult to turn around with the axle being locked, I wish they would have a steering system like snow blowers do, where you can unlock one wheel to make turning easy. One other thing... more

Great Tiller
I bought the Cub Cadet because of the front weight, dual rotating blades, the larger wheels and the Honda motor. So far it has done a great job. It is very easy to use, as a woman I was concerned about being able to control it. Not a problem at all. We have very rocky soil and it goes through it very well. The pull start is very easy to pull and starts after a couple of pulls when cold and 1 after warmed up. The self propel feature is great too. My garden is at the bottom of a steep hill... more

Rotilling In Hard Clayey Soil
This tiller did a great job preparing our garden. It has plenty of power and starts right up. One caution that I learned was the reverse gear operation. One needs to be cognizant of what's behind you when you put it in reverse. I learned to basically step aside and let the tiller go beside me. The tiller will give one a great full body workout and the end result will be a garden ready to plant. I especially like the large diameter wheels and the counter-rotation of the tines. The latter... more

Stuck In Gear
I have about 15 hours on mine and it is stuck in forward gear and forward tine rotation. This seams to be a very common problem. All I can suggest is read more than one review online. I would not buy this tiller again.

Works Great If You Till With Something Else First.
The Engine and transmission seem to work well and it seems well built, although, I have only used it a couple of times now on pre-broke dirt. My only complaint is that it can't take a very deep "bite" on any single pass. It may take more practice running it and getting used to it though. I can only compare it to my front tine tiller which was a piece of cake tilling up a 3000 square foot garden. With the front tine I could do the whole thing with one pass to get about 6-8 inches... more

Cons: Expensive

Great Tiller
This Tiller Is Far Easier to Operate Than I Thought It Would Be. Setting the Tines to Rotate in Reverse,This Tiller Just Digs Down and Creeps Along. Very Easy to Handle and Starts On the First Pull. I Have Only Used This Machine Twice But I Am Very Pleased With Its Performance.
I Looked At Several Tillers Before Buying This One and I Think I Made the Right Choice, Both For the Price and the Features.

Don't Waste Your Money
This tiller is junk. The Honda engine is great otherwise the design is poor. The ground speed is too fast and cannot be controlled except to reduce engine speed. The designer knew nothing about gardening.
The gearbox is clunky, sometimes you have to rock the tiller to get it into a gear, there is a squeal noise that happens randomly (not the belt). It seems MTD has taken over the tiller world and they are producing junk that is not worth $700. The only value on this machine is the... more

All That & A Bag Of Chips
First I'd like to thank Tillers Direct for being spot on in their assessment of the Cub Cadet I purchased. Their humble opinion allowed me to make a firm decision to proceed buying a Cub. I believe in Cub since I have 2 riding mowers purchased over 13 years ago & I still mow my 3 acres with them. Secondly I'd like to thank the R & L driver that delivered the tiller. Kind, courteous, & showed up when he said he would.

This is the first tiller I've owned. Previously I've used front... more

Don't Hit A Rock
Based on the reviews I saw here I bought this tiller. My first use was positive. Hard to shift but the engine and tiller function were really good. The second time out a rock lodged between the tiller blade and the horizontal bar supporting the front of the tiller blade housing. The bar bent and locked up the tiller blades on the opposite side. Very flimsy construction and bad design if a rock will bend a component and jam your tiller. Cub Cadet won't pay for the replacement since the warranty... more

Looks Nice, But . . . .
Nice looking machine. Made in the U.S. Can't go wrong. Right? Bought my RT 65 H two days ago. Haven't used it yet but it's already makiWrong. Both shaft seals are a nice mess on my shop floor. The dealer said that the gearbox was leaking but they tightened it up so it should be OK. Leaking. Either they don't know how to put a shaft through grease seals or they are using inferior parts. Hey Cub Cadet, you're making "Made in the U.S.A" look bad. I guess I'll have to return it.

Good Tiller/honda Engine
I just received this unit with no shipping issues. Assembly was easy. A review of the manual showed the various parts needed in the future. I called my local Cub Cadet dealer to see what they stocked. As they only carried air filters and spark plugs I went to Cub Cadet and ordered a replacement belt, fuel filter and tine axle clevis pins for future maintenance issues.

Prior to this unit I had a similar unit with a Briggs engine and manual neutral wheel positioning (PIN) for moving the... more

Cub Cadet Rt65 Tiller
I had a Troy Bilt Horse tiller for 30 yrs. It eventually threw a rod, and I discovered that the engine was no longer made. I searched for comparison information and Direct Tillers offered an excellent service. Never was able to connect to "Bob" and he never returned my messages. I did talk to a human (not Bob) and she gave me helpful information.

To the best of my ability to discern, the Troy Bilt Horse is an overpriced machine. I did find both the Cadet and the Troy Bilt at... more

Rototiller Rt 65 Gets The Job Done
We bought the RT65 tiller with dual rotating rear tines in order to plant a small vegetable garden on our 80 acre Farm. It has the capability of doing the big jobs in preparing the garden plot, working in the compost, etc. as well as the routine, touch up jobs for the garden. We knew that we will eventually expand the garden and may need to get something to pull behind our tractor, but for now, this unit is great.

We expect to pre-condition the garden this fall and to triple the size so... more

Great Machine
Love the tiller, learning to run it. Throttle adjust when in a tight place in the blueberries, is hard, to back out. Otherwise, love it. Forward for going between garden rows without piling up dirt on sides on small plants, deep back blade rototilling for setting up garden, and getting paths free of weeds is great.
Pros: Durable, Light Weight, Reliable, I'd Buy It Again
Cons: Backing Up And Adjusting Throttle Is Interesting

Tiller Is Great, But.........
Came with a tire that will not stay inflated. Minor problem but unexpected with brand new equipment. That said, I'm delighted with the Cub Cadet. This tiller was easy to put together and operate. It developed a slipping belt after just a couple of hours of operation. Instead of having to take off a safety guard and make difficult adjustments "under the hood", I found that the tensioner adjustment is at the handle bar. Could not have been easier to adjust. This is very well... more

You Can Do Better For The Price
After spending $1049 (after shipping) for this tiller, I found a nearly identical one at a local hardware store for $300 less, except it was painted orange, had minor cosmetic differences, and it said "Husqvarna" on the side.

It was easy to assemble and adjust, and started up very easily. I have hard clay soil, so it bogs the engine down quite a bit. I have to start off very shallow. Overall, I was really happy until about 2 hours of use. The belt became loose. There's not... more

I Like The Tiller
We used the tiller only once so far and it worked to our expectations.

It came in excellent condition, packaging wise, and the instructions were clear enough. It may be of interest that I am a 5' 8" 83 years old female and was able to put all the parts together, so that the operator had only to add the oil and the fuel, and here he goes tilling my garden! Maybe it helped that I have a PhD in Chemistry!! If you ask in a year I can give you a new story.

Keep up the good work.

Cub Cadet Does The Job
I have had lakefront property for more than 35 years. A swimming beach was established decades ago and recently we have had way lower than normal lake levels. Fortunately, the level has been on the increase, but this caused a lot of unwanted growth and brush.

Many years ago, when the beach area was less than half of what it is now, I would extract and till the beach by the use of hand tools.
Well those days are long gone, because the Cub Cadet handles this as well as brush grown in shallow... more
