Excellent
Just got to use this today with about 8 inches of snow. This thing handled it no problem. The engine was plenty powerful enough and cleared my large driveway in only about 20 minutes. Starts up on the first pull every time.

Shocked How Bad This Unit Is.
Got it out today for the first storm, about 8 inches. It took forever to do my driveway and it is so messy looking due to some from the skis too high maybe, this unit refuses to cut a straight line due to the constant pull to the left and overall wandering. It could not move much snow without leaving a trail out the cleared side.

It spins its wheels and has awful traction except on the lawn, but not on the driveway. It is very front heavy but that does not stop it from riding up the plow... more

Cons: Difficult To Use, Heavy, Messy

Excellent Machine
I was initially concerned about the things I had read about the auto steer feature. Following instruction to level the head to the drive unit solves many of the issues with the machine wanting to turn constantly. The machine performed better than I could have hoped. Easy to start and operate.

My only regret is not getting it before I through out my back shoveling a heavy snow fall earlier in the year. We had a relatively mild winter in Wisconsin I'm looking forward to a heavier one next... more

2 Foot Snowfall
My old snowblow failed in starting to move 2' of snow in NJ. Ordered the 306 and it got it 2 days later. A neighbor helped get the basic drive done but there was still a drift over 30" to go thru to widen the drive. Things melted and refroze but I went out AM Sat.to tackle a 3-4' hi by 10' pile from the snowplow at my end of the cul DE sac. Had to edge into it as it had compacted but as long as it powered forward the blower cleared it. Turning was a learning curve but was handy with my... more

Replaced My Toro With This
Wish I had my Toro back. The Ariens is nice quality but the auto turn technology is unnecessary and makes the machine a bear to handle. Yes, the opposite of what they claim. To turn well you must have the scraper blade 1/8" off the pavement. If you like 1/8" of ice on your driveway you'll be fine. You can always put the blade against the pavement and wrestle the machine up and down the driveway. Cranking the chute back and fourth is inferior to Toros joy stick as well. If I had to buy... more

Quite The Snow Blower Don't Listen To The Negative Reviews
Well I did a lot of research on Ariens, Toro, and Cub Cadet. The Cub Cadet 3 stage caught my attention because of the 3rd stage after looking at it the cute control was very flimsy. I could see it freezing up easily and breaking so I scrapped that idea.

Next was the Toro, which was a very nice machine all the way around, but a little too much money for me. I have always liked Ariens and when I went to Home Depot, they had a Cub Cadet and the Ariens 306cc 30 cut blower. After working the... more

Replaced 30/11 Craftsman
Replaced my old Craftsman 30/11 that was about 12 years old and wanted the same 30" width with lots of power. Ariens & Honda are the standards but Honda is 3x the price. Found an Ariens 30 Deluxe at Home Depot for a decent price and had high expectations. The chute adjustment is a little different but is not a deal breaker. I thought the auto steer would be a nice feature but once your off the pavement it does fight you trying to hold a straight and steady course. Was used to the over... more

Great Snowblower
I had a 28" Ariens that I gave to my son to use and replaced with this model. We had about 20" of snow this December and this machine handled all of it with no problems. One 8" snowfall was wet and heavy and this machine still threw it 40 feet. I have only used the electric start once....it starts on the first pull. A great snow thrower that I would highly recommend. I did add hand warmers....at this price they should be standard equipment.
Pros: High Quality, Durable, Exceeded Expectations, Reliable

Beware Where You Purchase.
I purchased the deluxe 30 based on reputation and quality when compared to other lower line products. The unit I purchased was on the floor at Home Depot. When I got it home, it started easily, but required me to go through the complete set up myself. I was told it was "ready to blow" off the showroom floor. NOT THE CASE. None of the cables were adjusted correctly, nor was the scraper height...both ride shoes were unlevel, the two nuts that hold the upper section of the dash were not... more

Ariens Lacks Serious Quality Control
Purchased at Home Depot and through no fault of Ariens bolts were missing on the pads. Buy from a dealer that will check the machine out before delivery as Home Depot sucks at proper assembly of product.

Now on to the real issue, brand new off the floor and only one wheel drives so it always want's to go left. According to Ariens both wheels should be drive wheels as it has a locker type diff. This thing is a POS and shame on Ariens for letting something off the line without even checking to... more

Autosteer...the Good And The Bad
First of all, Snow Blowers Direct shipped this out quickly and the unit was in perfect condition on delivery! The machine throws snow like a champ, I live where a foot of snow is only a dusting.

We usually average 15 feet per season but already this season had a storm that dumped 7 feet in 3 days. The engine starts on the first pull, and the chute controls work good and hold their position well.

AutoSteer is both good and bad.... if your driveway is flat and level without packed, caked... more

Great One To Own
I have an older version and needed objector a vacation home, so I bought this one and had it shipped directly to the house. Easy enough to assemble and some very nice feature improvements. Works very well. Has electric start capabilities, and easy to start with pull start. Just like my other one, starts right up every time.

I looked at other brands and manufacturers, and this is still the best quality around. Metal not so thin and skimpy like many other brands at same or higher prices.more

Great Machine And Great Company
I live near Buffalo NY, as many may know, we had up to 7 feet of snow over 3 days in November. There wasn't a snow blower which could be purchased anywhere, they were all gone.

I looked up the best snow blowers using the Consumer Reports online link. The recommended machines were then entered in as search engine and I came up with Snow Blower Direct. I ordered it with some fear but it turned out to a great experience.

The machine arrive sooner than I ever imagined. There were some... more

Great Quality, But A Real Bear.
I was very excited to use my new snow blower, but was unprepared for the aggressive nature of the drive, which would bite then buck up again and again. I tried adjusting the skids up from 3/16 to a 1/2 as my driveway has developed some uneven ice build -up, which helped, but just a little.
The chute control is excellent and snow clearing is outstanding, but I was exhausted after an easy 2" snow removal, due to the heavy nature of the unit, plus the aggressive drive train.
Pros: High Quality, Reliable, Durable
Cons: Heavy, Difficult To Use

Second Unit In 3 Months !
Purchased both units act Home Depot . First one lost all gears except for the "fast forward" within a month. Got the second unit, the same problem after using it .... twice. Ariens blames Home Depot for not testing it properly and not making adjustments when needed. Also, they stated the problem is due to damage in shipment . I personally do not buy that story. They should either stop selling through Home Depot or train their staff. If the unit is so fragile that large percentage of... more

New Ariens Deluxe 30 Vs 10 Year Old Signature Series 32"(murray)
I just purchased the Ariens 30 inch deluxe, It throws snow far, engine is slightly under powered and I do not like the auto turn technology. I have a bigger 32 inch 12 horsepower signature series i think was made by Murray without any steering and it maneuvers better than the ariens due to the longer handlebars and better leverage.

I can push down on the Murray bars and am able to walk a long distance with the front end off the ground. On the ariens I have to struggle to push the handlebars... more

A Snow Throwing Brute
While I'll admit this machine is an outstanding snow throwing machine, the ergonomics are quite difficult.
When you lock in the auger drive while holding in the wheel drive, you have to use your right hand to reach across to the left-hand auger controls. It's impossible to go in a long straight line because the "limited slip" differential will turn the machine at the slightest force, especially if you're adjusting the auger controls while in motion.

Wet snow will not bother... more
