Ariens Warranty Stinks So Does Log Splitter
Hello, I have been splitting wood for many years and still have my very first splitter by speedco and still running. This machine splits anything and everything. My mtd splitter 25 ton the same. Works great. My other splitter with hydraulic lift works great also and splits what I want when I want. This 34 ton ariens unit split about 20 facecords then sheared the bolts, broke the weld and bent the hydraulic ram. Warranty will not cover this and there excuse is you split a y shaped piece of... more

Keep Shoping If You Can.
This splitter is very usable, however it is a case of "I wish the designer had to use it." This unit is excessively heavy. Other splitters place the oil reservoir on the axle, keeping that weight where you don't have to lift it. This splitter runs the oil reservoir along the main beam under the piston ram. This adds to the weight of the unit when you are putting it on the hitching ball or maneuvering it around off your truck or ATV.

The third wheel helps, but only to a small... more

So Far, So Good
After much research, a co-worker and I purchased two 34-ton splitters roughly at the same time. I was always leery of the Subaru motor. I say this because I've not used any equipment with a Subaru, nor anyone I know. And, 7 hp seems too small for a 34-ton splitter.

I looked into the Speecos and Swishers but didn't like the designs and lack of accessories (but they did have larger motors, eg. the Speeco 27 ton comes with a Briggs 10hp - my dad owns this one and loves it). The reviews... more

Wow
I've been splitting wood with a small 15 ton splitter for the last 15 years. What was I thinking, I should have upgraded years ago. There is nothing that this machine won't split. The test was with 30" rounds of Hickory that were 20" thick. This machine went right through those rounds! It even went right through the rounds that had some serious knots. Buy this splitter, it's the best!
Pros: Easy To Use, Exceeded Expectations, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again

Fair Value
Looked at many splitters, decided to try Subaru motor, never tried one prior to this. Works fairly well so far. I have split 10 cords in the past week. Today after about 6 cords it seemed to be heating up and sputtering, so I shut it down for day. Other then that issue it has been a decent machine. Not bad value for price. The extra little side tables are nice to prevent falling of pieces. Getting it out of shipping crate was major hassle had to dismantle two entire pallets to get it hooked up... more

Ruben Recommends It Also
I recently purchased the 34 Ton model, it arrived well crated and more assembled than I expected. I wisely opted for the drop gate shipping as the unit weighs more than six hundred pounds.

It is well made, the fit and finish are very good, and well engineered to boot. The engine location up front protects it from damage, and I like the castering front wheel. It also has a stabilizer leg located between the wheels to anchor it solidly in place.

I like the features of the Subaru engine... more

Been Great So Far. No Heating Issues And Built Heavy
First I wouldn't get anything less than the 34 ton. Another make may have a different spec on their output but for this the 34 ton is what you need so you can split most anything. If you buy log length and split yourself you'll be very happy with this. If your a land owner and want to see if it will split a Iron Wood tree then I'm not sure how it would do as this is the hardest wood to split bar none.

The unit is heavy and strong. I've split 4 full cord so far with some seasoned Oak. I too... more

Gotta Love The Simple
The work table I purchased from Log Splitters Direct was shipped fast and got here quick.

Now to the table. The hardware that comes with the table made the install even quicker than you could imagine. It only took minutes and it was on with the DeWalt impact, that quick.

I also bought the cradle kit and of course it went on that easy as well. Between the table and cradle kit, it cuts down on the bending and picking up of logs dropped in between splits. It really does speed things up a... more

Great Machine
This log splitter works really well. It cuts through wood like butter, and it's not hard to maneuver. It's an expensive machine, but I'd highly recommend it.

Cons: Expensive

My daughter and I bought this together. I can split wood every day because I can pull it over to start it. It's so powerful that it splits everything.

Scared About Some Bad Designs
The head tore loose from the cylinder and at 3/4 throttle it over heats. At full throttle it doesn't get to warm, I think.
Pros: Quiet, Price, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again
