Q: I have an All Power APGG6000 generator. The circuit I plan to use is a 30 amp twist plug 3 prong. What power inlet box and transfer switch will work? by Mal G from New Jersey on May 12, 2013
Q: Is the Reliance Q310C a good choice for my Generac XP7000E. My electrician indicates a need for a 20A 2pole and a 15A 2 pole as well as several single pole breakers. Are the replaceable breakers similar to the Murray that are so available. Is the Reliance PB30 inlet box a good choice? by Allan Peck from Massachusetts on May 24, 2012
A: You cannot use the Q310C with the Generac XP generators. The control panel on the XP models is GFI protected so you must use a GFI type transfer switch. The Reliance Controls "X Series" switches are recommended. Here are a couple models and they are very versatile....

Jim's Recommendation
Reliance controls is a well known brand in the generator industry. This product earns the better award because of it's compact design and light weight.
You can't beat it.

Nice inlet box
Looks like nice compact box. Seems well made. Electrician liked it.

Easiest to use
I am an electric contractor and this is the easiest power inlet to use because customers can see the plug prongs and they are not underneath like other models.

Prepared This Time
We were without power for a week after the ice storm in Southern Michigan in February of 2010. Miserable. Had to use kerosene heater to heat some of the house (sort of). Lost the food we had in the freezer and the refrigerator. Thank goodness we are on city water with a gas water heater so at least we had water. I decided we weren't going through that again, so I bought a 7,000 watt generator, power outlet, and transfer switch.
I was concerned about installing the transfer switch myself, but let me tell you, if you have any knowledge about the wiring in your house, you can probably do this yourself. Couldn't be easier. Just follow the instructions in the manual that comes with the transfer switch and / or watch the instructional videos on the Reliance website and installation is fast and easy. Now we have power to everything we need in the house when the power goes out. Don't wait until you lose power. Prepare now.

Excellent choice
My Second review!!!
So far I would say it's still a EXCELLENT CHOICE; we ran the generator for 35 hours with no problem. It ran the whole house after the Sandy Storm and also helped a neighbor.
*****Most Important- 5 gallon of gas got me 13 hours on a half load.*******
First Review!!!!!
I recently picked up a Generac XG8000E, a 30 amp CableMaster (4 prong), and a Reliance Controls 30-Amp (4-Prong) Power Inlet Box and had my home set up by an electrician. He used an interlock plate on the main panel. The interlock plate allows you to choose what to run on your main panel- it's a very nice setup.
The Generac XG8000E generator ran for 30 minutes: 1 compressor, 2 air handlers, 1 fridge, 1 freezer, 3 TVs, 3 cable boxes, 1 router, 1 modem, 1 laser printer, & 5 lights. The generator was running 3/4 power on the LED display. The Cablemaster cable worked well with all the equipment.
I WOULD SAY EXCELLENT CHOICE OF ALL PRODUCTS.
I used a Deltran Motorcycle Battery Tender for the generator battery, since the charger that comes with the Generac is a once-a-month charger and not convincing to me.

Ordered PC3040USA Model got PC3040CHINA Model
Just received my back ordered PC3040 30 AMP Releliance controls 40 foot power cord. However, the cord I received was not the one pictured or specified on EGD sight. Reliance has substituted a made in China power cord with the same specifications. The cord I received is 50 foot in length, is yellow and has a heavier outside jacket. It probably weighs more than the USA model. I called Reliance, and they said it carries the same warranty as the USA model. I haven't used it yet because I am still waiting for my Reliance Controls 30-Amp (4-Prong) Power Inlet Box - PB30 and Reliance Controls 60-Amp Utility/30-Amp (GFI) Gen Indoor Transfer - XRC 0603C. Electric Generator Direct should have indicated that they would substitute the Chinese power cord for the USA model before it was shipped.

Excellent Online Expirience.
Ordered the Generac 7500 Watt electric start model after doing many hrs of latenight research and comparisons. Wanted a unit that was big enough to run everything but our electric stove and electric dryer and washer. Very simple online procedure after that.
Truck delivered it to my driveway within a week or so as it was a back order item..I was home alone that day and since it weighed 200 lbs, there was no way I was going to get it up our 30 foot handicap ramp to our back porch. So, being a nice sunny day, I cut open the box, installed the wheels and handle within 20 minutes, then wheeled it up the ramp and onto the porch..
Connected the battery, added the oil which came with it, couple gallons of fresh gas, and electric start kicked it on right away... not as loud as I expected it to be..but my older generators never had a muffler like this one.
I also ordered the Reliance 30 amp, 10 interchangeable breaker power transfer box and power inlet box.
Note: I saw a Generac 7000 watt manual start at a major Box store and including tax, was more than what I paid for the 7500 with electric start so I know this was the best deal and the best choice on where to buy all of this from.....A great deal all around and I would recommend this company to everyone.

Easy set up
Purchased this set up for occasional power outages.
Instructions are fantastic and easy to follow. The whole set up took me no more than 3 hours to complete and that included a trip to the local store for black, white, red, and green 10-gauge wire for the power inlet box, some 20-amp breakers because I wanted to change the box around a little and, some other small items.
Watch the videos on Reliance Controls web site as well as read the directions a few times prior to install and you should have no problem getting this installed.
