Q: Are heated grips an option on the SWE?
by D. Litwiller Jr. from Michigan on December 17, 2013

A: They would not be an installed option, but would be available to add. Below would be the link for the heated hand grips. These are going to fit any of the newer Cub models with a split alternator and pretty much any unit made within the last 2-3 years has this.

Cub Cadet Heated Hand Grips.

Q: Will I have to assemble it?
by Joe Gannon from New York on December 15, 2013

A: Joe - yes, there would be some assembly required. You would need to attach the discharge chute to the the body, fold-up, position and tighten the handle bars into place and attach the skid shoes.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: Do you have chains for the back tires?
by Edwatrd Duszak from Delaware on October 24, 2011

A: Edward - the Cub Cadet 524WE has 15" x 5" tires. The Toro snow blower tire chains should fit, since the Toro's and the Cub 524WE use the same tire: tire chains

Q: Is power steering worth it for the cub cadet 24" 2 stage?
by Matt Johnson from Pennsylvania on October 24, 2011

A: Matt - power steering is a nice feature if you have a narrow driveway or a short driveway and you will need to make frequent turns. Or if you have a wife or girlfriend who will be using the snow blower besides you. Otherwise, you probably don't need it on a 24" model. The 24" model is not too heavy to maneuver without the power steering.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: What does 120V starting system mean?
by Richard Cooper from Pennsylvania on October 18, 2011

A: 120V starting is pertaining to plugging an extension cord into a wall outlet and then plugging into the starter of the snow blower and pressure a button to start. Most snow blowers don't use a 12V start because snow blower use can be sporadic.

Q: Hi Kriss:

What is the difference between a Cub Cadet 524 WE and SWE?

by Oney Smith from Maryland on September 24, 2011

A: Oney - The Cub Cadet 524SWE has an "assisted steering" (power steering) system. The Cub Cadet 524WE does not.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: Hi Kriss,

What are your thoughts comparing the Cub Cadet 524 WE vs the Craftsman 88957?

by Chris Smith from Pennsylvania on August 11, 2011

A: In terms of the Cub Cadet model, these are good machines. When it comes to the Craftsman though, I don't have a ton of information to make the comparison because we don't handle the Craftsman and have never used one. The Craftsman models are made by MTD, the same company as Cub Cadet, but the Cub is going to be the high end stuff. When it comes to anything made by MTD, the Cub is always going to be the superior product. You can find some similarities, but the Cub is the premium line.

Great Snowblower
Bought this in December 2013, located in central MD. All of this cold weather has brought 2 significant snows, and 4 chances to use the snow blower. Used the product to move 3 inches, 5 inches, 6 inches, and 9 inches -- with varying weights to the snow (from fluff to wet and heavy). The more snow, the harder this thing works, and the farther it throws. I am very, very pleased with this product. I can not speak to durability as it has only been used for about 3-4 hours. I have a 250 yard... more

Overall Decent Snowblower.
I had this snow blower for couple months now. I know a lot of people give feedback the day they got it and give all 5 stars without using it yet.

The good: price, traction, handles height, electric starter, appearance, the durability only time will tell.

The bad: the snow discharge chute obstructing the light, one handle control seems good idea but cables freezes and it's hard to control and with that if you have big flow of snow it moves the chute different directions. If you have 1... more

Looking Forward To More Snow
I used to think that a two-stage snow blower was overkill for most snowfalls. After years of using single-stage snow blowers I was getting more and more dissatisfied with the quality, performance and effort required. I am very happy with my new Cub Cadet. I was concerned that it wouldn't work well for light accumulations of snow but I was wrong. Whether 1" of powder or several inches of heavy snow--this machine does a great job. I have not tried the electric start since the recoil... more

Now It'll Never Snow Again!
After spending hours shoveling during the last winter storm, I bought myself this amazing snow blower for Christmas! It may be premature to write a review, but here's what I think so far. It's been used twice now. Once by me and once by my husband. Talk about taking care of business! This sucker throws snow exceedingly far, much to my delight and is exceptionally efficient at clearing walks and driveways. My only regret is that I didn't up the ante and get the model with the "power... more

Beast Of The North
I bought this machine in hope of being able to clear end of driveway where town plow trucks plug (typically two ft high and three ft.in depth). I also need to keep a path clear to my propane tank for refills. I purchased a set of chains to help with traction. To my surprise I didn't need chains, even on the sloping area to propane tank. What a beast!!!!
Blower far exceeded my expectations.
Pros: I'd Buy It Again, Light Weight, High Quality, Excellent Traction
Cons: Joy Stick For Shute Clumsey

Apron
This snowblower is great in the apron. Snow plows dispense messy, soggy, salt laden junk in aprons of driveways. We have 3 in our new house. This machine chew threw them with not too much effort. A little more money gets you great tires and a higher cc motor rating. Worth every penny.
Pros: Easy To Use, Price, Exceeded Expectations, Great Buy

Bought this for girlfriend's house, small driveway, thought it would make it easier for me to clean up a heavy snow before doing drive with my tractor and 42" plow. So far only had to use once and it did a good job. Problem is the machine wants to run on half choke plus it lopes hunts. Trying to get someone to repair this under warranty, so far no luck. Called customer service and they just gave me a few more places to try. Will try them soon, as I believe this will be a winter to... more

Cub Cadet 524we
I was very pleased with the easy starting and the handling of the snow blower, I was also pleased with the way it removed the wet snow. I had only a small section of the drive that required use of a shovel due to the water content of the snow. In all the snow blower did all that I asked it to do. I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to my friends and family as well as the purchasing from Snow Blowers Direct it went smoothly and was better than expected.

Finally Got To Use It!
I purchased this snow blower in the fall of 2011. Finally got to use it in mid February. Performed flawlessly as it threw 15 inches of snow. Had so much fun, decided to do 6 neighbors as well. Got another chance to use it 5 days later on 8 inches of heavy snow. Had to go a little slower and it didn't throw it as far but that is to be expected. This unit is well built and PED provides a good amount of information to help research before buying.
