  8 Questions
Q: Does The Cub Cadet 1046KW have option of electronic power steering? If so what does that add to price?
by Ronald Brimm from Florida on April 25, 2014

A: Ronald - power steering is not offered on the Cub Cadet LTX1046 lawn tractors. The only 1000 series Cub tractor that offers power steering is the 54" model that we sell.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: I have read where the deck wheels dig into the ground. Do they make optional swivel wheels for this mower?
by Derl Sarby from Illinois on April 05, 2014

A: Deal - sorry but there is not a swivel option for the anti-scalps wheels on the mower deck.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: What about the drive? Is it belt driven or shaft?
by Gene from Ohio on January 19, 2014

A: Gene - the drive system on the Cub Cadet LTX series tractors are a belt drive system. However, several components must be removed and special tools used in
order to change this tractor’s transmission drive belt. It is not an easy change out unless you really know what you're doing.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Is there a hitch, if so, type, included on this mower?
by Mike Kosydor from Mississippi on October 07, 2013

A: Mike - the Cub Cadet LTX series tractors all include a standard hitch pin style hitch. You would use the hitch pin from whatever tow-behind attachment you are towing - the hitch pin itself is not included with the tractor.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: do you have wheel weights available?
by Ted Melton from West Virginia on September 06, 2013

A: Ted - the Cub Cadet LTX series tractors do not use wheel weights. The LTX tractors require a rear weight carrier and suitcase weights. The rear weight carrier is part #490-900-M060, and the 42 lb suitcase weights (sold individually) are 490-900-M059. We have both the rear weight carrier and the wheel weight in stock.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: is there a snow blade for this?
by Gary Kawka from New Jersey on June 14, 2013

A: Gary - the Cub Cadet LTX1046KW tractor would use the MTD OEM-190-833 snow plow blade: plow blade
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Is there a front bumper included as shown in the picture?
by Seamus from Wisconsin on April 18, 2013

A: The front bumper would be included with this mower as it is shown in the picture.
by Jose, Product Expert

Q: Where is the fuel tank located?
by Steve Roecker from Kansas on March 08, 2013

A: Steve - the fuel tank is located under the hood on the Cub Cadet LTX1046

Cub Cadet
Received my mower about three weeks ago. Wasn't sure about ordering such a big purchase online. I was happy when my mower came in perfect condition. Put some gas in it and was ready to go. Had to un-crate it and I was ready to start mowing. Great power to this machine as I have some pretty steep hills on my property. Cuts great and runs very quiet. Looks great and I'm sure I will get years of service out of it. Mowers Direct was a great place to deal with and have recommended to friends. ... more

Nice Mower
I have now used the new mower for about a month and cannot find a single negative to mention. The Kawasaki engine is quiet and has plenty of power for my needs. The turning radius is exceptional and all of the controls are simple enough for anybody to use. Quality of cut is very good and I would highly recommend the mower to others.

Greatly Exceeds Expectations
Purchased this tractor based entirely on its Mowers Direct professional rating, going against my unprofessional convictions. This Cub Cadet is awesome. Could not be more pleased.

Shipping was perfect. Packed to prevent any product damage.

Good example of trusting the experts instead of your jaded views.

Perfect Fit
I have a large lawn with lots of shrubs and flowerbeds so I knew I needed a large mower to replace the Zero Turn Dixon I had just sold. Which, BTW I'd never been able to use. My husband did all the mowing with the Dixon, I truly didn't like the dual handles and it was like riding a bronco. That is not the case with my new Cub Cade LTX 1046 KW Kawasaki Lawn Tractor.

The ride is smooth and I have more cutting level options, too. Rather than put a bagger on the mower I got the mulching... more

Some Positives And A Few Negatives.
Shipping and delivery time were good. The mower was well crated and arrived with no damage. After using once I'm generally satisfied with the performance. The mower is quiet, strong and fast.
Negatives:
The brake and PTO lights on the control panel are non-functional

The cutting deck was out of level by about an inch

The plastic covers on the hollow tubes on the front bumper don't stay on ...remove or lose

The retaining pins for the front bumper vibrate out! Secure these or... more

Smooth, Quiet Engine, Cuts Well
The 2 cylinder engine runs very smooth and has lots of power. I was impressed the first time I started it up. Much better than my old zero turn mower. Turning radius is very good for a tractor. The quality of the cut is very good.
Pros: Quiet, Durable, Reliable, High Quality
Cons: Expensive, No Positrack Would Be Nice On Hills

Sweet Mower
Having tried out a few other lawn tractors over the years. I find that the Cub Cadet LTX 1046 KW (46") 21.5HP Kawasaki Lawn Tractor is by far the top mower in its class simply because of the KW motor and the performance you get with this beast. My 2 acres of lawn are no match for this mower. Kudos to Cub Cadet for making a true American product worthy of the tag made in America!!
Pros: Quiet, High Quality, Reliable, Kawaskai Motor Is The Best On A Cub Cadet
Cons: No Arm Rests

Impressive
Great lawn tractor. I had a old Craftsman (another great lawn tractor) for 17 years. The Cub Cadet will cut the same grass in about half the time of the Craftsman. I love the small turning radius. I bought the grass catcher attachment separately. I am very impressed with the design of the cub, not so much with the design of the catcher. The catcher seems under designed for the quality of the rest of the tractor, particularly the chute to bagger interface. Could be better. However, both work... more

Dream Come True
I moved 14 years ago to a house with a much bigger lawn than I had ever had before. I shopped for lawn mowers and got talked down (by my wife) to settling for a Sears Craftsman lawn tractor. It was an adequate mower and did the job. I never loved it, but I sacrificed. After 14 years, the engine still ran really great. The rest of the mower had gone downhill and needed some repair and/or replacement.
This time I got what I wanted and I am elated. My new Cub Cadet 46" 21 HP Kawasaki... more

Cub Cadet For Life
I have an acre, out in the Florida country, with a tired, but still active Craftsman that was handed down to me. It was a 97 42" with a 19.5hp Briggs that was getting hard to steer and slowing down. It would take approximately 1.5 hrs at best to tackle my yard and use about 2 gal of gas. I received my Cubby today, 3-2-14, and was like a kid in a candy store. I've been waiting about six years to upgrade, and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait. I knocked down my entire yard in about... more

You Get What You Pay For
First time out a small wire went through the sidewall of a front tire. Turns out the tires are very thin, $40 later I now know there are no bearings for the front wheels just plastic bushings. How long do you think they will last? Just plastic cups protesting them. My cousin was the head of the design group that made the first Cub Cadet, he would puke on this product.
Pros: Quiet, Easy To Use, Features, Price
Cons: Low Quality, Durability
