Q: Hello,

I am considering replacing my snow blower. Besides the clearing width and height, can you explain to me the key differences between Ariens 920014, 921035, and 921028?

Thanks!

by Ernie Jones from Massachusetts on August 24, 2013

A: Ernie,

The differences are mainly engine brand, engine size and impeller/auger size.

920014 = Briggs and Stratton 205cc engine, 12" impeller and 11" auger, no steering assistance and 13"x4" tires

921035 = B&S 250cc engine, 14" impeller and auger, Auto Turn steering assistance automatically slows the inside wheel during turns, 16"x5" tires, uses a crank to turn the discharge chute vs. a lever control on the other two models

921028 = Ariens 291cc engine made by LCT, 14" impeller and auger, Auto Turn steering, 16'x5' tires and heated grip hand warmers

I certainly recommend Ariens snow blowers. It's just a matter of what features are important to you.

Q: Hi Kriss,

Does the Arien Compact 24 has the dual belt auger/impeller drive system as their Deluxe model?

Thanks
Hung

by Hung from New York on October 23, 2011

A: The Compact would not offer the dual belt auger/impeller drive system. They use the single belt for the auger and impeller on the Compact models. This would only be found on Deluxe and higher models.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: Does the 920014 come ready to run, or is some assembly required?
by Mike Zavada from New York on August 28, 2011

A: Mike - the Ariens ST24LE snow blower is shipped mostly assembled. You would need to fold up the upper handle assembly and tighten up the 4 bolts that hold the upper handle in place. You will need to assemble and attach the discharge chute to the auger housing. And you will need to attach the discharge chute control rod to the discharge chute and to the upper handle assembly.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: is the snow blower direct drive or do you have to push it?
by Bob from New York on August 20, 2011

A: Bob -the Ariens 920014 has a disc drive system, so it the equivalent of a "self-propelled" unit. It has a choice of 6 forward speed settings and 2 reverse speed settings.
by Bob, Product Expert
Q: If I order this model will I receive a 2011 model since it is backordered?
by Nick from South Dakota on August 09, 2011

A: We only have this years models. You would be receiving a fresh model built this year.

Thanks,

Q: what size shear pin for this machine
by Anonymous on June 17, 2011

A: This is going to be a 1/4".

Q: why is the cord not included on the Ariens electric snowblower and where would you go to purchase a cord, an electric starting machine wihout the cord makes noo sense???
by Anonymous on June 16, 2011

A: The reason the cord is not added on the snow blower is because Ariens views this as another added cost when most people already have extension cords. If you needed one, we sell the Ariens 120V cords for this, but you can also use a regular extension cord for this as well.

Q: What is the difference between the 2010 model and the 2011 model?
by Jim from Ohio on June 10, 2011

A: The differences are going to be minimal. The only real difference is going to be the headlight. They are actually doing a mounted headlight in the dash this year due to so many problems with the lights shown in the picture.

If you want a high quality two-stage snow thrower in a small size, the Ariens ST24LE may be just what you are looking for. This dynamo, packed in a compact frame, is designed to work efficiently on mid to large sized driveways and walkways. Its small and easy to handle.

The Ariens ST24LE features top-of-the-line materials in its parts, like a heavy duty cast iron gear case, a serrated steel auger and a steel chute. The simple but reliable friction disc drive system and the 205cc 4-cycle... more

Bring On The Snow
The 920014 has to be homeowner's best friend. Based in Wisconsin, Ariens knows a lot about clearing snow. My continued research for a Briggs & Stratton engine found that B&S had purchased the Simplicity Lawn Tractor Company who had previously purchased Snapper Lawn Equipment. Snapper make a nice snow thrower, however, retails at $1,499. They are huge.

The theory is that anyone shopping for a *small* two stage snow blower does not care about where the engine is made. Many... more

Secret Care Instructions Not In Manual, And Then Not Covered By
We bought an Ariens snowblower at Middleton Power Center in early fall two years ago. Part of the sales pitch was that if we bought it here (as opposed to a store like Sears) they would give us priority service so it would be fixed quickly, and it had a three year warranty. The store was pretty empty when we bought it, and we had never used a snowblower before so we asked them to teach us how to use it, which they did. We came home and happily used it for two years according to the owners... more

My First Ariens Purchase... Definitely Not My Last.
Struggled with the smaller hand push throwers for years. What a delight! A little mechanical ability would help however you don't need to be a rocket expert to assemble this. Instructions are pretty straight forward, step by step. Took it out a couple times and I really love this.... Merry Christmas to me!!!!!!

Great Machine!
Purchased this machine after getting tired of spending 2hrs+ shoveling the driveway and what a difference! Delivery was great and the setup took me about an hour (I highly recommend printing the directions out from Snow Blowers Direct - they are MUCH easier to follow). Once assembled I filled it with gas, checked the fluids and it fired up the first time with no issue. It stored neatly in the corner of the garage (it took up much less space than I thought it would) and waited about a week for... more

Great Snow Blower Except For The Light
I have had a chance to use it in five snows from wet and heavy to light and fluffy . It starts at -15. But the light sucks ! It shines more in your eyes than it does on the snow. I taped over the upper half and used it twice it helped some. then just unpluged altogether. Its too new to rate service or reliability. My Craftsman lasted 30 years! I will let you know on reliability! If not for the light I would rate it a 5 across the board.

Great Machine
I bought this unit after some extensive research. Glad I did. It was not so easy to put together as the unit was not nearly as assembled as the one in the video. Once I got it together....wow, it's great. It cleans right down to the pavement and throws the snow so far, I was hitting my neighbors driveway. Big plus is its strength, when the city plow dumped the heavy chunks of ice and snow after I had done my driveway, it had no problem chopping through it. I am very pleased I bought it.
Pros: High Quality, Reliable, Durable, Features
Cons: Bad Instructions, Packaging, More To Put Together Than Expected

From Poulan Junk To Wow
Bought a Poulan 24 inch piece of junk 5 years ago, after having it in the fix it shop, the last 4 years, and eventually getting Corporate involved, I traded it in for the 24 compact Ariens! WOW! From junk to a "million" dollar machine. THERE ARE NO CONS on this machine, 2 pulls in the -21 DEGREE northern Minnesota community! Overly excited to own an Ariens! A must have!

Ariens 24" Snow Blower
Arrived well packaged and on time. Only took me 30 minutes to assemble, check the oil and fill with gas. Started with one pull. During the last snow fall, easily cleared a long driveway of 6" of wet snow. Found it much better than the Toro it replaced for wet snow. Used the electric start this time and again fired right up in 10 degree weather.
Pros: High Quality, Easy To Use, Exceeded Expectations, Reliable
Cons: Expensive

Great And With Only One Glitch
This is a great machine and it passed its first storm with flying colors. Set up and assembly was easy enough. The best instructions I found came from the Home Depot web site.

However, when the chute is turned full right, it catches at the belt guard and this can't be cleared by rotating the crank rod counterclockwise. The chute has to be manually disengaged from the belt guard. I made up a stop on the chute gear to prevent this.happening again. This may be due to tolerances in manufacture... more
